I got a 13 S4 on stage 1 right now with 89k miles. The cats are still OEM and they have never been replaced. I’ve heard horror stories about cats blowing out and it’s starting to bother me a little.

From my long research, it seems like there aren’t many options with aftermarket cats especially because I’m in California with their emission laws..

I’ve come to a decision that gutting the cats will be the most cost efficient way (and possibly pass smog check?) But just wanted to hear from people who’ve done this in California whether they were able to pass smog and any recommendations for shops who will do such job.

Thanks

mine were still perfect @ around 125k miles. stage1
whats the history on the car?
you can gut them but its gonna be a helluva job to shove them back in. but at least it'll solve your visual (unless you got a guy)

shop cost will be around $700+
if you youtube jhm's method, you can knock it out in literally a few hours.

which toonz do you have because that will also matter when it comes to fighting with spacers or not.
