Recently bought a 2011 S4 w/ 107K miles. Runs great. For the first several hundred miles the MMI oil level showed fully full, then suddenly it showed fully low. Seemed odd to me so I ordered a dipstick and was reassured when it showed the oil as half full. That was a few weeks ago. Today the "add oil" warning light came on -- but dipstick still shows half full!

The dipstick I have is this one from Amazon, the "H" model:

However, in comparing the tip of this one to some pics on the forum, it looks like my dipstick has the wrong tip, and is longer than it should be. That would explain the half-full reading when actually I'm burning oil and it's low.

Here are pics/measurements of someone else's dipstick:

Here's mine. The tip looks different (serrated area longer) than the above, and it measures 3/4" longer overall than the one above. Am I crazy or do I have the wrong dipstick?

CCBA engine, T40178 values are 132 top ring, 0 (min) to 13 (full) on the lower scale. So 13mm range from full to min.

What that calculates to is a distance of 404 mm (15.9", ~15 7/8") from dipstick tube top to full, and 417 mm (16.4", ~16 3/8") from dipstick tube top to min.

There has never been an official dipstick for any of the B8 vehicles. At least not for the EA888 4-cyl or EA837 6-cyl FSI engines.

The 06E 115 611 H dipstick was for the EA837 engines in the C6.5 A6. This includes the CALA 3.2L and the CCAA 3.0T. So one would think it would be similarly suitable (assuming it's an accurate replica), considering the CCAA 3.0T (C6.5 A6) and CCBA 3.0T (B8.0 S4/S5) have the same lower oil pan part revision.

But you have the measurements, so see where they land on your in-hand dipstick.

I have the ECS alum handle and the oj plastic handle. I can check measurements in the morning.
