Hi Guys

I have a couple questions about the APR intake. I have an APR Stage 1 tuned S4. Rest is essentially stock. APR makes some bold claims about something like +17hp with the intake, I believe if you're running stage 2.

So what are people's experience with the intake on a stage 1? Any real discernible power gains? Also, I've read some people questioning any sort of net gain given you're pulling in ambient air as well as engine heat vs the box. I don't live in FL, but summers are warm and humid.

Just wondering if it's really worth the price.

Thanks!!

Results should be similar to this. Looks like the stock does become restricted at higher rpm.

i have an extra ecs cf pipe if you need. you'd just need to get a new filter

Thanks!!At STG 1 power levels, an upgraded air intake isn't a need it's a want. It will look great in your engine bay and help make lots of wonderful dramatic SC noises. At a certain HP level, a stock air box WILL become a restriction. At that point, you're adding an aftermarket filter to it and drilling a bunch of holes in it to get it to flow enough, and it still won't outflow a good open intake. As for the intake temp thing it has very little impact on power made. My wmi injection kit can drop temperatures at the SC inlet below ambient, and while that helps, it has a surprisingly small impact on the HP I produce. The most important thing in the world of Superchargers is to reduce any restrictions pre rotors by as much as possible to make HP.

Intakes do add a small amount of power on this car, especially when you have a TCU tune that allows you to shift to 7200 or higher. This car can make HP all the way to redline and at the higher RPM’s is where the stock intake can become restrictive.

Most of the intakes are going to give you about the same gain so whichever one you pick probably won’t matter much.

I’ve run the CTS and APR intake and there was no noticeable difference between the 2 and I would bet there wouldn’t be any noticeable difference with IE or 034’s intake either.

Buy one, yes. But don’t lose any sleep over picking the right one.

I wonder how much of those gains are the high flow filter itself and how much is cause it’s in the open. Would be nice to see a dyno test for drop in filter.

The increases most likely come from the tube, not the filter or the box.
