Wireless android auto power issue

Hey everyone, recently purchased a wireless Android auto adapter, and it works great! problem is it seems the USB port never turns off in the armrest so when I get in the car later/next day it has a hard time connecting to the adapter. I got in the car this morning and noticed the light on the android auto wireless reciver was on without turning the car on at all. am i crazy or should the USB port power die shortly after the car is off?

I have a 2018, and my USB ports turn off after a short while in the armrest. They turn right back on if the door is unlocked. I have the AAWireless adapter
