I was getting out of my car today and my knee bumped the headlight switch. Now the knob appears to be pushed in a bit. Everything still works, but it's strange.

I looked online to see if they are all like that, thinking that I was just being paranoid, and lo and behold, a lot of them look bumped in...but some don't. But then I looked at the sales pics from when I bought the car, and the switch knob is definitely NOT pushed in at all. It's flush with the surface of the assembly.

Anyone know what the story is with these things?! Can I fix this, or am I looking at a new switch. Of course with my luck, my car has HUD and night vision. So in addition to the front/rear fogs, all the buttons are used.

Thanks for any info!

It's not "supposed" to be pushed in and you can just pull it out. But they are really easy to accidentally push in, and people tend to leave it like that since it still works. I bet most people don't even realize it. Most of the used cars I see are pushed in as well.

The switch is in a bad spot and it's designers didn't take the knee into account.

Well shit...that worked! It really felt stuck, so I was hesitant to pull on it an break it further. I was already reading up on ERWIN about how to remove the switch and looking up used/new prices. Your tip saved me a ton of frustration and probably a bunch of money. Good on ya! Figures a guy in WA would hook me up (I'm from Gig Harbor, WA).

What a dumb "feature." Push in your headlight switch if you like...pfft.

Leave it pushed in. When ready to sell list it as a mod.
