Has anyone had this problem?
2014 A7 with Tech pkg
Battery went flat after 14 days sitting dormant.
Jumped. But would not hold charge
At 8 yrs. Seems logical to replace batt. Done at dealer
A week later, after 4 days dormant. Flat again
THEORY- noticed the MMI screen was making a weird noise when closed. Even with the car Off.
I would post sound if I could
Figure how to!
Seems like (maybe) is it not hitting it’s limit switch and it keeps trying to close further.
It is a soft click and then a 2 second chirp like sound.
WONDERING if this is killing the battery??
If I listen for it after turning car off, then hit the Open/Close switch it will
Stop. But when I come back to car several hours later it is doing it again.
Frustrating.
And now I can’t ask my wife to drive car for fear of dead battery.
Ugh!

Thanks for any advice!

Many electrical systems continue to operate while the engine is off, draining the battery. When the voltage gets too unstable, many systems start to throw faults. Presumably the dealer that replaced the battery checked and reset all those systems, but maybe not. A good starting point is to do a VCDS type scan of all the car systems to look for faults. Another thought for future prevention is to invest in a battery tender (several AZ threads discuss brands) so you can feel more confident asking your wife to drive the car.

Have an OBD11? Make sure you disconnect before you turn the car off if you leave it plugged in or else it’ll drain it down. Ask me how I know (and why I carry a lithium jump pack battery in my trunk now lol)

Literally the same thing happened to me, but I replaced the battery and had a dead car the next day so I had to eliminate possibilities and mine was the OBD11.
