MMI release f*@k up **HELP**

Hi all,
I’ve made a huge mistake and need any ideas you have. While waiting for my MMI release keys to come in the mail I became impatient and found some videos with homemade keys.

Long story short, one side worked like a charm and the other broke off locked inside the slot.

It’s flush and I can’t grab it with pliers.
And it’s locked in place. I have the keys now but obviously it won’t fit in anymore.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I was originally trying to remove it because the rs nav unit died unexpectedly.

Take out the climate controls, see if you can access the clips at all from below.

This is the situation you're dealing with (AMI unit flipped over as an example):

You see how the curved surface pulls in the tab, which pulls in the whole retainer clip. Concept is the same, but the tabs seem differently designed for the J794.

You can see the wall in the dash which the clips secure against as well as the clips on the side of the J794 at this moment. So maybe see if going from underneath provides any access to leverage the clips. Or if it's on the passenger side, maybe remove the glove box and see if there's a path in from the side.
