Just get the 710n. I really dont thingk you need the forge with the mods you currently have.

I'm also gonna be getting a 710n to replace my stock one(its fluttering now). Plus you can get the 710n at the dealer, so you dont have to wait.

Yes ,with a rubber diaphram. The 710N is great if you are stock or .08 bar chip. Once I went to 1.0 bar my 710N diaphram cracked and I lost boost. FYI.

yes, a 710n will do just fine, even if your chipped. i do believe there are two brand new ones for sale in the classifieds.

My 710N has held up under 1 bar for over a year. When it dies I can throw in a new 710N. With the other DV's you need to service them, so it's not about the hassle. Has anyone on this forum personally gone through 5 710N's after installing them correctly? (5 x $30 = $150 < $160)

BTW there are 44 threads that came up in search when I typed "710N forge DV"

I've had the same 710N for years running 20+ psi of boost.

Is that sign of fluttering a "bad" thing, in a damaging way?

Im at the point where I think Im just going to get something after market in a while, can I just wait on the one I have? or should I replace it asap?

Call a VW dealer. I picked one up for $35.

I had a problem relaying what the part was to them... They said the computer called it a Blow-Off Valve, which amazed me.

Give them the part number:
06A-145-710-N
and hopefully they'll have one in stock.

What VW car uses this? I've read the valve was originally designed for the TT's.

I think the lady at VW said it was for newer Beetles and Passats (I want to say '02 and later). But yes, I believe it was originally on the TT.

the 710N is a great unit. it is plastic with a rubber diaphram. when it is in working condition it is flawless and is much better than the piston type units like forge which leak boost (MINOR) under normal operations. Only problem is you have to keep replacing the 710n over the years which will end up costing more. My buddy casey ran all kinds of test on the bypass valves and ended up sticking with the 710n. (he stated that the turbo xs was the worst one and leaked the most boost even though it was miniscule) When both valves are working flawless i would say the 710n is better. Over the long run i would say the forge would be better value.

I was running a 710n for awhile with no real problems, but after i came across a Bailey DV used for $80 I just went ahead and got it so i never have to worry about it. So if you can find a used one in good condition go for it, otherwise save yourself some $ and get the 710N

the answer is obvious.....go with whichever one is louder.

can you put a greddy bov that can be converted to bypass valve just like a diverter? or how do people do with a regular BOV to not let the boos vent out?

ive hod the 007 for around 10K miles. ive serviced her a couple times, just whenever i have thought about it. how often should it be serviced?

The short answer is "when it needs it". I usually tell people to test the valve every 6 months.

Check the end of this pdf for instructions on how to test the valve.

I'm going to pickup a 710n from the VW dealership near my house after work today..hopefully an OEM air filter for my A4 also if they carry them. If I can get both of those I'll do the swisscheese airbox mod tonight - performance for $50 right there [;)]

The VW dealership here wants $61 plus tax for the DV. I laughed at them and left.

when i remove my 007 for cleaning i put the 710n in it's place. there is no perceivable difference between the two.

Except about $100 [:D]

I'm a budget builder.. when I see two things that work with as much a $ difference as this it's obvious which one I'll go with.

my car came with the 007 so i didn't actually have to buy it. that said, it is nice knowing that there is no diaphragm to tear and nothing to wear out.

I think I'm going to be picking up a 007 here shortly. The 710N I have is great for Chipped/bolt on k03's and even k04's but I don't think it's up to the task of 20+psi from my t3/t4.

Ray Khan

how much boost you plan to run with the t3/t4? I've been using a 710N for years in BT application.

i got a bosch 110 valve off hoppen motorsport, the said it is able to handle large amount of boost/power. it is said that the 110 is more durable than the 710n with mods.

i can hear it whistle a little bit with the k04. it isn't loud at all but you can hear it if you want to.

why are you cutting holes in a perfectly good airbox? do you have a desire to mix that nice cool outside air with the hot underhood air before running it through the MAF?

burner799
10-26-2006, 05:32 PM
not cutting anything yet. just wondering. my friends k04 'd and his evoms is really loud. thats prolly what i will get, they are known to be the loudest.
