I have a 2016 Audi A7 TDI with about 70k miles.

I noticed a "diesel smell" that seemed to be coming in through the AC, usually happening after a 20+ minute drive. The smell was typically only noticeable if I turned the AC fan around/past level 4.

Took it to the Audi dealer and they are saying there are a few issues they found after inspecting it.

1. Coolant leak - water pump needs to be replaced ($1650). Tech filmed a video during the inspection and I am seeing coolant or what seems to be coolant that he pointed out
2. Diesel injector(s) and seal(s) - covered under diesel extended warranty

I am not handy at all...but am wondering if $1650 is roughly the cost of what I'd be expecting at an Audi dealer for a water pump or if I should be seriously considering an indy?

The pump is belt driven, so it's on the front..that's good.

Labor shows about 3 hours. I add 2.0 for service position. (Anything more than putting air in the tires requires service position..IE remove bumper, slide core support, IE "Lock carrier" foreword) So 5.0 hours.

Assuming Awwdee charges $200/hr...and they're charging you a full hour to fill and bleed the cooling system and test drive the car; let's say 6 hours.

6 hours @ 200/hr that's $1200

Let's add parts....

List on the pump, 059121008K is $275. Add a few bucks for the gasket.

Add a gallon of coolant. Let's go crazy @ $50/gallon...

$1525 before tax and "shop supplies."

That's about what I'd expect at the dealer from my Maths™

Thanks. Is the water pump something I can wait a few weeks to repair, and still daily drive the car?

Want to get some more quotes...if I can.

If it's not leaving a puddle every time you park, you should be OK to drive around. Check the coolant level though.
