Hello hello. Been searching all over the inter webs without luck. Needing some knowledge on removing the front crankshaft timing gear. What special tool is needed to lock the crank for bolt removal and what puller is needed for the crank timing gear. Ill keep it short for now until I see what the issue is behind the gear.
Thanks in advance!

Is the engine in the car or on a stand. Is this a manual or an auto?

Put car into high gear, set parking brake and use a good impact on the bolt.

Automatic, engine is in the car. I do have an impact but its not going to break it loose.

What is the reason for removing the bolt?

Crank seal is leaking due to stripped balancer bolts leading to drilling and taping leading to a broken tap which must have made it between the gear and front flange. Yup really fun times. 2005 car with low miles but has never had a timing belt service so the bolts were stuck typical audi fashion soft material and even with proper snap on hex socket, tried heat an impact 3 of the 6 stripped.

When replacing the oil filter housing I think I noticed a hole in the bell housing with the flex plate showing, is there a locking pin available ?

remove the[wrench] the starter. it will expose the part of the flywheel for you to use a bar to lock the flywheel in place

You can try to put the trans in D or R and see if it holds the crank (if you do this, make sure the wheels are chocked and secured and youre not in a precarious position under the car in any way).

Alternatively - remove the crank pulley and thread in a couple of crank pulley bolts and use a pry bar to counter hold the heads of the crank pulley bolts as you use a long breaker bar to turn the crank bolt. This works best with a second person and assumes you are in service position or have the whole front off.
