Hey guys,

I just ran a full VCDS scan on my wife's 2017 Q7 (3.0 SC CREC). At 68K miles, nothing much to report. But, 1 error re: PCV caught my eye. Should I be thinking toward replacement of the valve and, if I'm in there, o-rings, plastic coolant lines and thermostat, plus super charge oil change.... Generally seems to me when we take things apart, we can "cost-effectively" and proactively hit "known" issues while were there and sleep easy.

Code detail below. Thoughts appreciated!

Its not the PCV under the supercharger,it is the electric PCV valve found on CREC and later 3.0 engines. It is easy to "splice" it into the hose that attaches to the oil separator that is located under the supercharger. Look at the back of the supercharger,it is a black and white valve with an electrical pkug and a hose at each end.

Any engine with the updated design has that, including my 2013 CTUA engine.

So, is it really a problem, or no. Car seems to run perfectly. That said it use 1 Quart of oil for roughly 5kmiles.

"No". How's the vacuum on the engine when you pull the oil filler cap with it running?

How much vacuum pressure/suction is normal when you try to pull the oil cap, and how does it feel when it's excessive indicating a potential PCV issue?

A slight vacuum is normal and it should also idle without stumbling. If you have to really yank on the cap and the engine stumbles on idle after you do remove it, the PCV isn't work correctly.

It had vacuum at oil full cap. Engine did not stumble, misfire or change idle speed that I could tell. I replaced plugs about 8k miles ago with engine and cabin filter oil change and topped all fluid. It seems to run perfectly.

I reset SRI and will let the code issue out of my mind.

Thanks for the advise guys!!

I’ll update in 6-8k miles at next oil change..

Sounds like you're fine for now. I'd leave it alone and wait a bit for anything further to come about.
