Hello, all. I'll start by saying that I'm not a big audiophile, nor am I very knowledgeable about audio electronics.
I bought an '06 A4 a few months ago that had significant (IMHO) aftermarket work done to it by the previous owner to include a 1st gen aftermarket navi unit, dual subs, and even a voltage regulator. I removed all that (because I can get rid of things easily) but it turns out that it's more difficult to replace things than to remove them. Since I'm not big on car audio I'd be happy with a stock amplifier. My question though relates to the amps offered by Audi. Would there be any benefit to installing an OEM Bose amp (8E5035223C) vs the non-Bose OEM amp (Harman Becker 8E5035223)? The car probably originally came with the non-Bose setup as there are no Bose badges on the speaker casings.
Or is my research incorrect about this? I know the rear speakers have a separate amp in the trunk, and I'm assuming an OEM head unit would have it's own amp built in, or nearby, in the dash for the front speakers. I may stick with an OEM head unit just for ease (I still have a lot of tapes), and I'm not really blasting NPR on my way to work in the morning, but if I can install a "better" amp when I have the opportunity I would do it.
I appreciate any information you could enlighten me with.
