View Full Version : Inside diameter size of this hose?

Previous owner used a screw clamp on the turbo coolant return line and now it’s leaking where it connects to the metal pipe due to hose damage. I’d like to splice in a new section of hose at the end until I can get the line replaced. What are the diameter dimensions of this hose? Thanks.

I had the hose off recently for my turbo replacement, pretty sure its 3/8" or 1/2"

Honestly just slice off a little piece off the end for a sample and bring that into the store.

well it is very likely to be metric, but if you can find a part number for it , you may be able to find out ID/OD

Pipe seems about 1/2", that it goes over. Metric/standard, don't matter. Its a hose. But don't think ya can remove from the other end, towards the turbo. Easiest way is just measure the pipe it goes over.

it has a hydraulic compression fitting at one end for sure. So if you want to " find a piece of hose" looks like you will have a mid hose connection anyway with multiple compression points and a union . may be better off to just get a new assembly.

A closer look at the hose reveals 10x17 which I’m thinking is the inside/outside diameter in mm. Well, shoot. I probably have no chance of finding that size hose locally.

Yes, the end at the turbo side is difficult to access. It’s under the manifold and there’s no easy to get tools on it. My objective is to get it stabilized enough to be able to drive it to an Audi shop 45 minutes away.

I found a solution. The last inch of the hose was the section that was damaged. I cut off that part and stretched the remainder of the hose onto the fitting. Thanks for your responses.

put a fuel line clamp on it if you can find one big enough

Whatever clamp you put on there doesn’t need to be so tight it eats into the hose and causes breakdown. Get the right size clamp and it should distribute the pressure equally as it compresses.
