Hey all, I just got from the mechanic. My car was making an odd scraping sound around 1700-2000 rpm. They said it was the DV (old style). Looking on ECS, I see a "Superior piston style diverter valve" (OEM 06H145710D) for $132, and a less expensive "Latest revision of diaphragm-based valve" (OEM 06F145710G) for $102. I'm just curious if anyone has experience with either. My gut tells me to get the more expensive one, but I don't have enough experience to know if there will be any particular benefit.

Also, in my limited research it looks like a part I could probably swap without too much difficulty. Is it an easy fix in your opinion?

Rev G or GFB+

The prices you are quoting are outrageous, even by Swedish standards. Shop around a bit. I get the Pierburg rev G for about 50$ here.

There is an even newer one that fits and works perfectly from a MK7 GTI/R (other MQB cars as well) I've been running it for 6+ months with perfect performance on a stage 2 tune.

D version is kinda clunky and doesnt seal great but holds up well, the G version has a rubber diaphgram people say performs better, but often only last 2-3 years at best.

Many people are running this 06H145710J in 400+ HP Ea888 builds and it's kind of a hybrid of the previous types, solid piston top but still has rubber base.

Can be swapped in 10 minutes but you need a good little ratchet/driver that can fit in the area, 3x 5mm hex bolts holding it in.

OEM is an on/off valve, controlled by the ecu.

GFB DV+ bring a mechanical operation, the valve is spring loaded , and you can change the load depending of what you need.

ON PAPER, it should keep more residual pressure in the system between shift, and ''should'' get better performance.

But this is on paper , when B7 subforum was popular, a lot of people were debating on this, most sayin that wouldn't change anything on that kind of car and oem setup.

I have one, didn't see any difference, it works, im happy

This. The only upside on the mechanical valves is longevity. No diaphragms to tear, or seals to weaken.

Thanks to everyone for the tips. Quick related question, is the diverter valve the same thing as a BOV? I've never owned a turbo car, so this is new territory for me.

Got it. Thanks for the info.
