It's been a really fun 2 years with my 2018 RS5 coupe, but the craziness of this car market has finally pushed me over the edge to sell the car and not look back. I bought the car back at the height of the pandemic/shutdowns for <$55k and only 10,000 miles on it. Dealerships in the area are now offering $63k after I put well over 25,000 miles on it. I'd basically be getting all my money back that I paid for it so far and a nice chunk of additional change on top of that.

Definitely gonna miss this car and all the fun I had modding it/making it exactly how I wanted it from stock. Now if only the car market could crash as soon as I get my check from the dealer so I can move onto a different new car immediately instead of having to wait.... [:D]

Nice, tidy little profit! But, have you figured out what the replacement will be? The same market conditions that raised the price of your RS5 are also at work on what you drive next, whether a used vehicle or showroom new. Might be a good idea to identify and negotiate for your new ride before you sell? You may have to wait a long time for the market to normalize.

Example: I wanted a showroom new Q5 S-Line, B8R (the supercharged 3.0T, during its last year of production - 2017. I waited until the new B9s were just starting to be rolled out and picked up my perfect options and color at a dealer about 500 miles away. It even had the summer tire package. The dealer needed to move it and it was cold weather there in February '17. No one wanted the car. I got a killer deal.

Of course, that was pre-pandemic and market forces were in my favor. I private sold my previous ride to someone who wanted the heavily modded but pristine car and was willing to pay my fair asking price.

Your plan may be perfect. Congrats on the enjoyment and profit. If the dealer can pay you that much for the car, think about their profit when tbey flip it to the next owner. I hope you do as well on the purchase side. But its a tough market now for buyers, because they are selling for substantially higher prices, as you know.

I'm definitely willing to wait a year or two before I buy my next car (we have 2 other cars we can use for the time being). Hopefully the market normalizes sooner rather than later towards the end of this year. I've been distracting myself from the loss of the RS by looking into Porsches (911s) for the future lol.

Unfortunately all the aftermarket parts on the car are gonna have to stay since I no longer have the originals (AWE Touring exhaust, Vossen wheels, rear carbon trunk lip, paddle shifters).
