Where does this go?

I was doing something on the winter beater earlier and noticed this bracket just dangling. I think it was wedged in somewhere but got dislodged while I was working on it. I'm sure it mounts to the head, but it wasn't readily apparent exactly where, and it looks like it's been hanging around for a while, judging by the amount of grime on it. So where does it go?

It bolts on to the vac pump, using the bottom bolt, with the bigger head on it. That little notch locks onto the side of the vac pump. Its a ground bracket.

There are 3 bolts for the vacuum pump, one has an extra big head. The bracket in your hand clips on a notch on the pump, so when you fasten the big head bolt through the bracket, the bracket won't move.

Excellent, thank you. Now I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that bolt is there and someone just neglected to reattach the bracket..

Lucky I think I have a package of these stashed away. Pretty sure they were used on a bunch of other stuff.

well, I had hard time to put this bracket back, took me a good 20 min to align it, and put the bolt without dropping it. You can get it 1st shoot if you're good, but can be tricky.

Almost did what you see and ziptie the bracket, but , hey patience is the key. look like the guy who did the job didn't get this patience.

the strip bolt might be caused by a bad angle, like using a 1/4'' ratchet with a swivel angle fitting. All you need is those super small ratchet where you can fit a drill bit.

I have lots of experience un-fucking other people's mistakes, so it wasn't too terrible getting it out.

I started to go look for a replacement fillister head screw but then I decided to just use a standard one instead. Hopefully I won't have to deal with it again, but whoever does can thank me for only needing a 10mm socket.

Getting the bracket lined up was a little fidgety, but I think it took me all of 30 seconds to get it in place and start the bolt. Everything is now clean and tucked away nicely where it belongs.

Not one to let any simple job go smoothly, I wound up cracking the u-shaped PCV hose. Oh well.
