Coming from BMWs, it's pretty simple. E92 is the chassis code, and S65 is the engine code for the 2008-2013 generation M3.

When searching for parts for my RS3, I've seen it being referred to as MQB, 8V, or the 8.5V, the engine is referred to as 07K, DAZA, DAZA EVO, EA855.

Can someone who is knowledgeable on this platform break down the differences for me? I tried searching and it makes it even more confusing.

MQB is the chassis code. Just about all (or maybe all) FWD based VW/Audis/Seats/Skodas etc are using a variation of this chassis, which is basically just changes in length depending on the vehicle. So for example the TTRS, RS3, GTI, Atlas, Q3 etc are all MQB vehicles.

8V is the generation of A3 platform, since 2013. 8.5V, 8VFL (facelift) just means 2017+ when they were updated. The next gen just released, is called the 8Y, the previous one was the 8P.

The 07K engine is actually the older, naturally aspirated 2.5. The engine in our cars is the EA855, but it can be DAZA or DNWA depending on where in the world it was sold. I'm not exactly sure the difference, I believe it mostly has to do with slight hardware differences for emissions.

Thanks Potatohead, regarding the 07K, Hank Iroz talks about it in this video and it's the engine in the RS3.

Not sure, maybe it's the code physically cast into the block or something? Most people around here call it the daza

Look like the Platform Designation is the "07K" like the Audi B8 A4 is the "08K"

Same here. 5 years into owning our S3 and I still have trouble with it's nomenclature. Also, I use RealOEM for BMW parts look up and it's relatively simple. Does anyone know something equivalent for Audi/VW? Thanks.
