Forgive my ignorance on this, but is there a difference between the ECS x-pipe (https://www.ecstuning.com/News/Audi_RS5_ECS_X_Pipe_Exhaust_4032/) and Bull-X resonator delete (https://www.emdauto.com/products/bull-x-resonator-delete-pipes-for-b9-audi-rs5-2-9t?variant=32437746434136) for my 2018 RS5 coupe? I'm looking to get a little more noise from the exhaust and originally saw the Bull-X Resonator Delete.
Thanks in advance.

The ECS x-pipe only fits the B8 RS5. As far as I'm aware, the Bull-X is the only resonator delete kit available for our cars.

Thank you so much. Having a B9, looks like the Bull-X is the one. Again appreciate your time.

Thanks! Yup just Bullx and running a JB4. I have installed an AWE intake since so will get another clip when it warms up.

Amazing. Just ordered it..can't wait to get it installed. You do anything with the factory exhaust flaps? I recently pulled the fuse to keep them open all the time, not sure if it'll be needed with this installed though.

Hey thanks. Nope haven’t done anything with the flaps yet. Just a little gas, downshift in “s” will open them up on cue. ;)

Agreed. And, not to change the subject, but I believe adding the PedalBox has also increased the benefit of the Bull - X. I suppose because the PedalBox causes the car to downshift quicker and brings the car to boost quicker, the flaps now open quicker and more often. Just my theory.

My bad. I was thinking the CETE module is what you ordered. I'm about to order the Bull-X also.

I thought the pedal box just altered the signal to the ecu to replicate the accelerator pedal being pressed further than it actually is?

I am not sure if the Pedalbox makes the butterfly valve within the throttle body open further than the accelerator pedal is actually pressed, or just takes out the delay (slack) to make the butterfly valve open to match the accelerator pedal. I think it is the latter, but either way, I would say your understanding is correct. However, without the Pedalbox, you can depress the accelerator VERY GENTLY and little or nothing will happen. My pedal had nearly an inch of play in it before the car would respond. Now, with the Pedalbox, there is no delay. So, even if you depress the accelerator very gently, the car responds instantly. As a result, the car will downshift instantly and bring the car to boost. Naturally, these two things both open the exhaust valves quicker and more often. It is not making the car louder, it is just making the car loud more often and for longer. Again, just my theory.

Is there a difference between what Bull-X is selling here and just having a shop remove the 2 resonators themselves? Is the benefit of the Bull-X the ability to remove and put back to stock as they come with clamps? Or is there more to it?

The Bull-X product is high quality and uses clamps so it's easy to undo if you want and is a known quantity. Quality of the tubing used and the welding will vary by exhaust shop.

And, no matter what, I would also ask the shop how they are going to make the necessary cuts to the existing pipes. If they tell you, they are using a Sawzall, I would find another shop.

How should they be cutting them? What’s the consequences of using a sawzall?

They should be using an Exhaust and Tailpipe Cutter. This is this tool's sole purpose. It will make a gentle, more precise and even cut. This will result in an extremely smooth and straight edge. A Sawzall will certainly do the job, but it can wildly shake the crap out of your exhaust system and may leave an uneven cut. Many do not care, but for me, I want my car treated gently, with the proper tool and a very clean result.
