Hey all, I'm looking to pick up a set of coilovers for my car. I have an opportunity to pick up a set of S4 H&Rs for a good price. I daily drive my car and I definitely wish the suspension was stiffer and better handling...(I came from a M3). My question is to the people running S4 coilovers on their cars or rode in one. How does it feel in terms of ride? Is it too harsh for daily driving? Anything else you can input would help greatly. BTW I have a 1998 A4 1.8TQM.

HR make the stiffest coilovers, HR is german, they have glass roads. they are stiff as shiet in san jose, and will be un comfy sometimes. its a bitch to ride in some times exp. on 101 or 680 or even 280.

what makes you think they are the stiffest? Comparing spring rates of various coilovers in the same price range you will see that H&R are necessarily the stiffest.

HAHAHAHAHA, nice.

The spring rates will only be slightly stiffer. Get them, you won't regret it. You have to expect the car to be stiffer overall when you're getting coilovers anyway.

get the ones for the A4 please. And H&Rs are nowhere near the stiffest coilover.

S4 springrates compensate for the increased weight up front compared to your 1.8T's. You can get way stiffer than H&R, but you should test drive in cars to decided what you want, can deal with, need etc...

You do realize H&R has various SR's within their own line right?

i got s4 hr coils, and they arent stiff at all to me, i still can get some body roll out of the car. When i go over bumps its not banging anything, it still smooths out bumps and drives refined around town, i dont feel like im so harsh im breaking a suspension component. I think id be mad if i went with the A4 coils, cause these are already a little soft for me.

I'm running H&R street coilovers for the S4, and I think they're great. Not too harsh.
