I wanted Max to win but not like that. This was one of the best seasons. Loved that it was down to the wire and the last race of the season!
I attended the Abu Dhabi race in the past and it’s like no other experience!

I watched, it was an amazing race. Hamiltons team should have pulled him in for tires. I wanted Max to win badly and I'm glad he did. Unfortunately Hamilton probably would have won had he had fresh tires on like Max. Those sticky soft tires made the difference for sure.

Also I can't believe Bottas is going to Alfa... wtf. Kinda of a down grade.

Yeah, I’ve been routing for RB & Max, although I truly enjoy watching everyone’s journey through F1. Lewis definitely had the upper hand in this race, Red Bull lucked out with the safety car and their strategy paid off, that’s just the nature of the sport sometimes.

Checo, so glad RB kept him in F1, he’s done some brilliant racing despite often being overshadowed. Today was no different, getting passed by Hamilton and then immediately biting back and getting ahead of him again and holding him off while Verstappen charged up behind, I mean c’mon!

I have to admit that seeing Toto screaming at Massi like a toddler was pretty comical. I can’t imagine that this protest Mercedes has opened up is going to gain any traction.

I think the FIA actually made a good decision for once by deciding to have a race to the end instead of a safety car going over the finish line, good call and for once I agree with them lol

I’m excited for next season and the movement that’s happening. I think Bottas is going to have an immense pressure taken off of him and the ability to race on his terms and not Toto’s. Russel/Hamilton will be interesting to see pan out.

Anyway, yeah awesome race today. I haven’t searched yet, but I wonder if there’s already an F1 thread somewhere. Would be cool to banter about the races throughout the season

Horner called on the racing Gods because they needed a miracle. Turns out Masi was all that he needed. That was a sham and the FIA should be ashamed. If you're going to stand on following the rules then follow the rules all the way through, ALL of the back markers should have been allowed through if that the case. I'm a big Hamilton fan, and I could say that he handled it better than I ever could. A full 24hrs later and I'm still salty LOL. Kudos to Max he's a great driver, surely to be one of the best for sure ~ changing of the guard maybe??

Ha I get where you’re coming from for sure. I just think it would have been really lame if the final climax of this season was a safety car over the finish line, womp womp. And I think that’s what the FIA were thinking, trying to stay within the standards as much as possible but whatever we need to do to have, at very least, one final racing lap to close out the season. Either way you have to admit that this was way more exciting no matter who you’re cheering for!

This race result reminded me of the equivalent of a poker game where you have 99% odds to win from the flop and some idiot hangs in with pocket 2s and catches a full house on the river lol.

Not saying Max or his team are idiots they definitely played their cards right and great driving by checo but the moves they made were more out of desperation they basically admitted defeat and asked for a miracle. The fact that rules or misinterpretation of rules won Red Bull a championship makes it meh to me.

Ha totally! But hey that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes, right? lol I still think that, regardless of the details, this was a more exciting way to end the season versus watching the entire grid trundle over the finish line behind the safety car.

P.S. - How's O-town these days? I used to live in Tampa and did many trips out there for shenanigans and visiting family over the years.

If this were a close race I'd be all for not letting it finish under a SC but Lewis did everything right and it was stolen from under him. He was ahead by +11secs and 5 back markers with Max on old tires and then Masi wipes it out with buffoonry. Surely he had to have known Max on FRESH SOFT tires has an unfair advantage by starting behind Lewis. It reeks of being fixed. He knew that having the cars ALL unlap would take too much time so he improvises some made up BS?? WT actual F? And to be clear, last year he insisted that ALL lapped cars had to unlap themselves before the race could restart.

Yet a year removed he makes up his own rule by compromising??? This is worse than hearing him on the radio asking RB which penalty they would prefer???? WTF dude?? Seriously??? The sand in my vagina is chafing me all sorts of raw on this on. LOL

lol yeah Hamilton for sure had the race buttoned up quite nicely, before the safety I had a hard time trying to figure out how RB could pull off the win. They had Lewis on some old ass tires, I’m surprised they didn’t make more of an effort at getting him in but I guess the risk for Max getting past him there was too much. Don’t forget that Max had pitted under the VSC so even before the double yellow he had fresher tires than Lewis. BUT it’s Lewis after all who is one of the few who is truly exceptional at managing his tires so no doubt he would have pressed on until the end without losing ground.

They’ve got people talking about it though which is good for business, whether they piss people off or not it’s all about getting people tuned into the sport and spending money on it. The politics of Motorsport I suppose.

Glad to see there are other F1 enthusiasts on AZ!

Retirement goals attended a full F1 season.
This was one of the best years we had in recent memory. A final race that was not just a showing but had some meat behind it.
