whats most beneficial for racing.....it seems like if i rev my engine out till around 7 grand or more I'm doing better when racing.....but, i know if i shift around 5500rpms that i would be making a hell of a lot more power? Looking forward to see'ing some arguments about this and what people have to say haha

i shift 7000 in first,6200 in second, 6000 in third, and probably like 5500 in 4th

are you talking about at the track? if so, i found that if i shift at ~5800 i get my best times. i tried shifting at 6k+ in the 1/8 before and i was 3/10's slower than when i shifted at 5800. also, from looking at my dyno graph. i make peak hp at ~5500 so there is no need to stay in the same gear much longer.

i only shift when the screws in my floorboards begin to back themselves out and my computer in the passenger seat is screaming out danger to manifold.

with just an apr chip and testpipe, you should only be shifting at about 5500 rpms. you can physically shift higher, but the itty bitty K03 will just run out of breath, even chipped. your not getting much power after 5500. if your trying to win a race, your gonna want the most amount of power, so shift earlier rather than later

the little K03 doesn't do much as you approach redline.... I shift well below 6K to keep it in it's usefull range

it depends what turbo u are running, I have a K04 so I shit around 5500 cuz anything above that the power curve starts to drop off. BT on the other hand you can take it up to 7k range and still have power.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
LOL I spelled shit!!! teehee!
P.S. I meant shift.

You should really be shifting higher... Even though the power drops off after 5500 it should still be making more than where the RPMs fall to in the next gear, shift higher and get to your peak HP faster. I shifted around 6k with my k04, now I shift right before my limiter which is 6800.

I usually give up the race before I'm out of second anyway. However I shift at 7k in first (otherwise it's way too short) around 6,300 in 2nd and like I said 3rd gear and up it doesn't really matter. Either way it's slow :(

Your lucky that 100 shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on your intake.

7100 in all on 71r

i havent run any numbers to back it up but with my chip i hit the 7100 limiter in first gear then take it down in a couple steps like 6200 or 6300 for second and 5500ish for the rest. shifting at 5500 everytime just doesn't seem as fast. but i should really run some times and find out for sure..

but yes my damn ko3.. when ever i get past 6000rpm i feel like i need to steal my grandpa's oxegen tank and hook that shit up to it. that or give it some gatorade.. i can't wait to go BT!!

Its all about driving by the seat of your pants, feeling when you start to drop out of the power band.

As for my A4
1st 8500
2nd 8200
3-4th 7800

K03 shouldn't really ever be taken past 6k and most gears you want to shift close to 5500.
