The excellent condition 2014 A4 w/ 93k miles is $18k.....the mint condition 2011 328I also w/ 93K miles is $14k. Looking to spend under $20k for a reasonably fun, reasonably practical 4 door second car.
Who ya' got?

I had a 14 a4, it was a dog stock. I went stage 2 and it really woke it up. Unfortunately it still wasn’t enough for me so I upgraded to an s4.

I have a '13 A4 6MT and have driven countless E90 328is (I work at a dealership) and owned a 530xi that had that motor (with a little more power) and a 6-speed.
Stock the Audi is easily the quicker car, it has so much more torque than the BMW and in most normal driving you really notice it. The engine in the 328 is a honey though, its silky smooth inline six is really nice and low maintenance albeit not as tunable. To me, X-Drive lets the BMW down, that version is overly cautious and shoots power to the front wheels a little too eagerly, the BMW's inputs (steering and chassis feel) are better than that of the Audi, but I much prefer the sense of confidence quattro provides and its predictability. The Audi is also an easier car to put miles on, the steering, shifter, and clutch not being as heavy play a huge role in this.
Which is better? I recommend you drive both to determine for yourself. For me, coming out of my old 5 series (which I adored, it was totaled) and looking between A4 and 3 series, the Audi suited my driving style and needs better with it's extra comfort and performance, but I wouldn't blame anyone for choosing a 3 series instead. Hope that helps!
