Hey guys,

My wife's 2017 Q7 just crossed 60K miles. I've done everything - including plugs because we has APR Stg 1 installed - on the maintenance schedule such that the car is current, but for the Super Charger Belt.

(1) The job looks easy; BUT, can anyone confirm I can get the belt out from underneath whilst the truck is on ramps?

(2) Do I really need a pulley wrench to reach for extra reach to the 16mm tensioner?

(3) Anything more I should know?

Thanks for your thoughts!

It's much easier to do it from up top, took me about 15 minutes and most of that was taking off the engine cover, air box, ducts, etc.

Yes, you'll want to get the serpentine tool given the slim profile. It's just enough room to slip it on and off (may push against the fan slightly but it's fine and doesn't damage anything). I picked this up from my local HF:

Thanks GDawg. Is the tensioner a 16MM?

i've got harbor Freight, Advanced Auto and Home Depot all near me. Can pick-up any time locally. I just want to make sure I have the right options in hand before I tear the covers and snorkel down....

Yes, if I remember correctly it is 16mm, which does not come with HF's kit. You'll need a stubby 16mm socket which will just fit or 16mm crows foot.

Thank you. Pretty sure I have a 3/8th 16mm crow foot. But the tensioner tool would have a 16mm stub too.

The odd tool we pick up over the years for certain jobs really start to stack up. But, things get done right and less expensively!

Ordered SC belt and all new wipers for the Q. Don’t think wipers had been changed in 2 years and FCP warranty’s for lifetime.

I run over to Harbor Freight for the belt tool.

Then I need to turn to the “kids” civic. I’ve always ignored Honda’s as they never seem to need anything. I recall a battery and breaks in one of our Honda’s at about 100k miles/8 years.
