View Full Version : To all 2.8L/12V owners

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. Bought me a '96 2.8Q w/ 85k on it. The car is in great condition inside and out and like many 2.8/12V owners I was curious about what performance mods were available for our car. I don't know if the majority of 2.8/12V owners here were aware, but here are some places that discuss upgrades and maintenance for our engines. Here are the links.....just tryin' to help.

nice man, your gonna love it, but if you bought it looking for a fast car, your gonna be pretty dissapointed since most mods that actually make a noticble difference are for the 30v and the 1.8t

i did me reserch before the purchase. i knew there wasn't much for the 12v. but to be honest, i got tired of spending money on performance mods for my vehicles. i just got rid of my '93 Miata w/ GReddy turbo kit @ 12psi's/ LINK stand alone ECU / Rx-7 Gen II IC / etc etc, blah , blah, blah....lol. you know how it goes. last dyno she was at 276whp.

my daughter was born recently and i wanted something nice i can transport her in. i bought some 19" Axis Spiders. i'm looking into some coilovers, painting the lowers and upgrading the stereo. that's probably going to be it. i might do intake and exhaust for a deeper sound but don't know yet, but this forum does have alot knowlegable people and do plan of taking advantage of that...cuz there is no way i'm taking my car to the stealership for a maintenace that i can perform....do you know how much labor costs these days...lol.?

you get my props for not giving up and getting a minivan.
i hate when people do that.
like if you've been able to cram full grown adults in your car and get around fine, why do you need all that extra seating for something thats like 90% smaller?
if anything just get an avant.
if i was a kid i'd rather roll in an audi than a caravan

just say no to vans and suv's

that's one type of vehicle i can never see myself driving. station wagons are cool (depending on manufacturer) but a minivan is a no go...lol.

Congrats on the purchase Que. im in DC/MD also and I have a 12v. Its more or less stock because outside of maintenance, i see no point spending money on a car with 150k miles. Anyway, always check out

lots of cool people there
