Has anyone else had their gauge cluster screen give out? If so, how did you fix it?

I’m not sure what exactly to call that screen, and I haven’t had any luck finding any tips on what the cause might be. It happened to me once before for ten minutes maybe, then came back on when I restarted the car, so I never got to look into it. This time it’s been off all day through multiple starts. I’ve checked all the fuses and they seem fine. The analog gauges are still working. I’m guessing the next step is going to involve removing the gauge cluster.

DIS - driver information system. The DIS screen is an electrical device, it can fail like any other.
The dealership would replace the entire instrument cluster; the DIS is not a separate stock item.
But if you Internet search, you'll find references to swapping failed DIS. Which path is more reliable or cost effective, I have no input.

Looks to be quite simple - https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/755472-DIY-Audi-B8-S4-DIS-Failure-

Well, the DIS decided to work today after being parked overnight, so I guess this is now a future me problem.

Might be worth scanning it for fault codes, if you haven't already done so. Also, how old is your battery? Is it more than 5-6 years old? Aging batteries can cause weird issues.

Interesting. Yep, my battery is 5 years old, and I’d been thinking about replacing it due to it sitting for a while last winter. I guess I’ll do that before trying to replace the DIS and see what happens.
