So I drove my B8.5 S4 stock for several months, then had a shop flash an APR stg 1 tune. I have a manual, and in terms of "shift feeling," I didn't really notice anything after the tune. I then drove it with the tune for several months, and decided to flash back to stock. What I noticed was I immediately felt a difference in how the shifts felt with my hand. It definitely felt better. Has anyone else had this experience?

Are you referring to the way the gear engagement felt? Clutch feel? Actual gear selection? A tune, regardless of stage should have zero effect on the 6MT. If anything possibly the auto rev matching or engagement assist after stopping.

If you're driving a manual im pretty sure the tune would have no effect on the shift feeling.

Physically selecting gears with the shifter.

I mean that's what I thought, but nevertheless I did feel a difference with the shifter going back to stock.

Your driving style probably changed or you're not familiar to the higher torque in the stage 1 while shifting possibly

Hi,

I see you are in CA. Assume that is Californ-I-A? It is my understanding that the 91 there is absolute junk. Additionally, if you look at the dyno charts on apr's web site, the greatest gains are at the very top end where the tune eliminates the roll-off that the OEM ECU tune puts in.. So you really need to go Stage 2 IMO to get noticeable improvement throughout the rev range.

Stage 1 offers noticeable gains. Stage 2 just has more torque all around and at every gear. I could be in 6th on my 6MT at 40 and still make hard pulls. I went back to Stage 1 for commuting and for longevity of car parts
