hey folks..long time lurker but decided to join and wanted to contribute :-)

Wanted to share my experience with the community on something ive been looking into for a long time, specially for more sound and to try to mitigate the slight lag (or perception of) our cars seem to have and free up some hp/tq. I decided to purchase a downpipe and did not want to go catless as i cant stand the smell or particular sound. i was entertaining 34motorsprt DP, but a relative of mine installed one of these on their car and i was definitely convinced as i got to pre-hold it and examine it and help with the install. i saw and heard the final product (got jealous after his install actually) and HAD to take the dive and got one myself.

Construction: this thing was over engineered from the looks of it with big fat flanges, CNC v-band mounting point and welds that look like they will last a lifetime. I had to have heat shielding on mine because of a thermal video i saw of another un-heat shielded DP running flat out and man oh man these things get hot. from taking a look on the inside i can see argon backpurged seals.

Performance and sound: WOW! ,This is what this car needed (this is before the x-pipe i will be installing), even on a stock exhaust system. I immediately felt the difference, faster spool..pulls harder and will get it tuned to exploit the Downpipe. No smell to be noticed. my relative has had it on now for 700+ miles and all is good!
im currently at 460+ miles and couldnt be happier. i installed a spacer as a just in case at the 440 mile mark from them, but they now offer it free on all their pipes. No CEL all the way and the exhaust sounds better each day

Purchase and customer service: Steve at Logos Engineering Motorworks was a consummate professional, got my pipe in a couple of days. He even reimbursed me the money i spent for the spacer after they started offering for free on their products. They make DP's for other private brands which I was shocked when the names came out (cant say), but its def. a whos who of the aftermarket pool.
they have some units in stock. This is where i purchased from : https://www.logosengineeringmotorworks.com/audi-b9-s4-s5-3-0-turbo

Lookin' real sus to me.

It probably starts with the weird stories, eerily repeated in similar format on the bimmer (https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1791867)and merc forums (https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-amg/802844-product-review-w-pics-logos-engineering-200-cell-high-flow-catted-downpipe.html). Some things to note in these reviews:

(1) The underlined, categorical organization of the reviews here and on the bimmer forum. Weak argument, but evident nonetheless.
(2) In the bimmer forum, the review states, "I never got used to the nasty droney rasp cat-less pipes have," and the "manufacturers" website states, "Get rid of that nasty smell that you get with catless downpipes and that awful rasp...". Hmm. real sus.
(3) Repeated references to the community here and on the merc page(e.g., "Wanted to share with the community")
(4) I'm no linguistics expert, but I did notice similar verbiage and grammatical errors throughout all three sources.
(5) Why do all reviews contain pictures of boxes? Not only that, but they look like they never went through transport. I mean, check out those branded tapes!

There are probably more coincidences here, but I don't want to look into this anymore.

Lastly, there's the product and underlying fraudulence. Here's the Mertop DP on Alibaba (link (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Mertop-Racing-EA839-3-0T-S4_1600127462384.html?spm=a2700.galleryofferlist.0 .0.bbdb3870Cpzh1s)). Pretty close to me.

And a reverse image search using an image from their About Us (https://www.logosengineeringmotorworks.com/about-us)page yields an uncropped photo from APR (link to image (https://oldimages.goapr.com/legacy-14552-apr_exhaust_b820t_cast_downpipe_welding_1_mid.jpg) and link to APR's page (https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/apr-presents-the-b8-b8-5-a4-a5-q5-cast-downpipe-exhaust-system.8078857/)).

If I'm wrong, my apologies to the company and they should get their internet presence together. If I'm right, screw'em.

😂 real sus, doing the good detective work.

Real talk though, these parts can be bought direct from distributors in China and places like Alibaba for dirt cheap because they use poor quality metals (like bottom of the batch type 409 steel and other blends manufacturers in the US and elsewhere won't touch) and while I'm all for an exhaust pipe being cheap because it doesn't need to do much, seems like there's a few dozen resellers out there these days that tack a logo onto these parts and mark them up 100% and call it a deal. It's so much cheaper because it's mostly crap, and you're just paying a nice markup to buy said crap.

The type of catalyst material in these pics is also of the cheapest variety and it will burn out and be useless in a few thousand miles. Real cats are expensive because there's actually quite a bit of engineering that goes into making them effective for up to 100,000 miles...this ain't it.

It’s the Mertop racing pipe you can buy on alibaba. I got a verification from mertop
on WhatsApp last night. I sent the pictures to them and they said it was for sure their pipe. At least that’s what they said, but I asked twice. A friend ordered a rs3 cat less downpipe from alibaba and it was the mertop racing brand and fitment was perfect and the quality seemed very nice. Mirror polished, thick flanges, nice heat shield, and perfect welds. If the cat is garbage than the pipe is garbage as stated above. It’s supposed to be a cpsi euro5 cat on that pipe. That’s what they say. Who knows! Lol.

Link seems to be broken. Did they take the site down after this write up or something? Thank you for sharing though.

Did you need to purchase a CEL spacer for this ? Could you link it please :)?
