Hi - The screen on my instrument cluster/DIS no longer works. It turned off for some reason and won't turn back on. I've read through the forums and don't really want to spend the money to fix it. I took it to my mechanic and they tried resetting the battery and checking the fuse of which nothing happened. Does anyone know of a way to get the mileage on the car without the DIS display? Thanks in advance.

scan tool to read measuring blocks: address 17, block 2, field 1, should be your odometer value in km

Agree with above, VCDS or similar should have no problem recording it.

Although I'm sure what these guys are saying is right in terms of being able to get the odometer reading using a scan tool, a dead DIS will likely create a value issue with most potential buyers when you go to sell down the road. My DIS was going dark intermittently and I finally broke down and replaced it with a refurbished OEM display from Speedo Solutions. It wasn't that big of a deal to replace it myself. They are selling for $180, which I would argue is less than the value loss most buyers would attribute. Maybe just keep this on your list for down the road before you sell.
