Replacing ECU

Preparing for worst-case scenario. I posted in here yesterday about losing internet connection while tuning my car. Later today I'm going to try to reflash and hope it will be okay.
Worst comes to worst I'm being told my ECU will be bricked, getting it reprogrammed is expensive but I've found buying a stock used ECU online is way cheaper.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but all I need is to have the engine code and ECU part number match up to not have any problems, correct? Thank you. [:)]

Depending on your tuner you may be able to send it to them to be bench flashed.

I've done this more than once. I've always been able to recover the ECU by flashing the stock file using the EPL flasher.

As far as ecu matching goes. Don't think anything has to match. I have a 2011 ecu and 2015 motor with no problems

If you have to replace It you’d also have to recode the immobilizer which includes reprogramming the keys

3 possible options for you .

- Reflash with your tuners cable.

- Send the ecu to them to have it bench flashed.

- Have the dealer reflash with an online ODIS connection to recover the ECU.

You will not have to get a new ECU.. Don't worry.
