These cars are pretty new to have these issues but just wondering if these 2.9 TFSI also have DI only with eventual carbon build up issues. I’m likely not keeping the car around forever but I’m wondering if that’s been addressed with newer engines in VAG lineup.

I think these engines have both port and direct injection. And the port injection helps clean the intake valves.

Is that because you can Walnut blast them or does the RS5 just not have much carbon buildup?

Starting with B8.5, carbon build up wasn't as big of an issue because Audi made some changes to the engine design. Walnut blasting is still recommended with very high mileage vehicles but it's nowhere near as bad as it was before.

I read somewhere that Audi was going to the dual injection, but I guess they found another way.

Hi all
New to this forum
Had 08 rs4 had carbon clean done once by dealer and once by me.
Recently picked up 2021 Ascari blue launch edition RS5 Sportback . I was wondering if any here has experience or thoughts on catch can application for this ? Already starting to mod this beast.

There is alot of controvery of whether they do anything. They mostly fill with water and if you live in a cold climate where it snows you will have to empty it regularly as the water inside the catch can will freeze. The gist is that it wont really fix the carbon buildup issue if there is one. Cant hurt to try though unless you dont empty the can frequent enough.
