View Full Version : Strut Brace?

Took the car out for its first proper spirited drive around some nice twisty roads last night, I wasn’t expecting it to handle like my old S4 but it was quite underwhelming through corners.
I have some sway bars on order and was wondering if anyone knew of a strut brace for the S6 to help tighten up the front end.

Front strut brace for this platform is useless. The C7 isn't a flexy 90's Japanese car. Stick with getting a rear sway bar to reduce understeer and sharpen the ride, or front and rear for a little more.

CR15 front brace made a massive difference on my S4

Unfortunately, the C7 S6 is almost a 2 ton car on air suspension.
You will notice a difference when you install the sway bars.
To compliment the sway bars, lowering it some with also help.
But if you are looking for an experience close to your S4, you are going to be hard pressed to find it.

There is an aluminum frame that holds the heat shielding between the front suspension, I'm pretty sure that is pulling double duty as a tower brace as thick at is it is.

This isn't an S4, so apples to oranges.

This^^^

You don't need one because the factory has a massive reinforcement in place.

I've been reading that this piece helps quite a bit in terms of stiffening up the chassis in front and helping with turn-in feel.

Indeed, and I would buy it if it fitted RHD cars

As mentioned it's not an S4, you said yourself that was not your expectation either...

The S6 is what it is and does it well, cruise quickly, comfortably. As much as some owners might try, it's just not a "tossable kinda vehicle." It's a point-and-shoot affair.

The bars will help, but if you do both front and rear, it'll still push in corners. Do just the rear to get the tail to rotate a bit.

<edit> yes the Alu-Kreuz would help if it were available for RH drive.

I suppose comparing it to an S4 with sway bars, strut brace and kw HAS was a bit unfair 😂
I’ll add the sways and see how I get on, it is still cold here so the tyres aren’t running optimally either. I’ll ditch the pzero’s for some eagle F1’s or PS4’s as soon as I get the chance as well, never liked them on other cars.

Definitely not fair ;-)

H&R sway bars fitted, much better handling now.

I thought you'd be happy with the bars.

How was the install in terms of difficulty?

Front and rear, put the front on soft.

I got a garage to do it while it was in for a service.
