Hi all, I'll keep this short and sweet. My shocks squeak like a mofo when going over speedbumps and such, so it is time to replace/upgrade. Given the amount of potholes on my daily drive and in my area, I have absolutely zero desire to lower the car. What would be my best suspension options for retaining stock ride height? I see the Bilstein B12 kit gets good reviews but I believe it lowers the car too. Is this correct?

Recommendations welcome.. would like to keep it under about $1200.

Should also mention I'll be doing my own wrenching, so labor costs will be $0.

Bilstein B6 shock and struts are for stock ride height or slight lowered vehicles. You don’t need coilovers if u don’t plan on lowering

Why not pick up a set of lightly used oem shocks/stuts? They are available on Audi sites for under $500, mostly from guys that have switched to coil-overs or Bilsteins. If the roads are bad, stock is probably the least expensive and most durable choice.

Bro, I bought KYB oem replacement struts off rockauto for $65 a piece. New MOOG strut mounts for like $20 a piece to. Rides exactly like oem. Haven’t had a problem with them.

Both my front struts would not decompress when I compressed the rod. Lol. Mine were both blown at 55-60k.

I was in a similar predicament as you, except that my vehicle is the base model, sitting 0.9" higher than the S-line OEM and wanted it slightly lower.

However, I believe coil overs is the best all round, but like you said... they should lower your vehicle more than you desire.

So now with a full set of ST XA Coilovers, even pretty much at/near the most highest setting...it is still a tad lower than the 0.9" S-line.
