So, looks like somebody hit my car last night, obviously no note and nobody probably saw anything:

I guess I’m just asking if anybody knows any body shops in the Bay Area who can take care of this surprise for a good price and do you think it’s probably better to pay out of pocket rather than go through the insurance given the damage.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple years back - damage was bad enough that it snapped the connection between the fender and front clip. For me...I went through insurance. Was also an opportunity to upgrade to the Caractere bumper (needed a new front clip anyway).

Yours doesn't look as bad...but you'll probably have at least $500 in paint and labor.

Man I had the same thing happen to me not too long ago as well but they got my passenger and driver door as well as the rear quarter panel i'm also in the process of trying to find a body shop in the bay area so if you do find a good one for cheap let me know maybe i'll go to and maybe we can get a better deal lol

Like mentioned above, hopefully the tabs on the bumper cover that slide into the fender slots are not broken Once those go, there is no way to hold the cover flush.

It mostly wiped off except for the dent and the clear on the edges. There’s one scratch on the bumper but it can be easily touched up. The most serious problem is the dent on the fender.

PDR?

PDR?
Idk, I think it’s worse than it looks on the photo, the paint has cracked in one spot on the fender and also somewhat scuffed:219451
At some point or another I might have to take care of all the cosmetic stuff. The bumper fared okay, the worst part is the fender. Maybe it might be cheaper to get another fender from the s4 or an s line a4 than have this one fixed, idk.
P.S. am I getting this right that the front fenders are actually the same between the A4, S line A4 and the S4? I can see that the base A4 front bumper is different and S line A4 and S4 bumpers are the same and there are different p/ns. I can see only one p/n for the fender. Calling @Smac770 into the thread)

I’d say your well over $500 for a body shop repair. I recently had a 4” crease on the drivers side rear door. They pulled the dent and used .47 oz of filler. Painted the whole door and cleared into the rear quarter and front door. $600 and it was my good friends shop. He asked....you want it done cheap or right? Also plastic and metal look different when painted so a quality shop will be able to make that almost unrecognizable.

yeah, that's why I'm thinking of just getting another fender. Seems like a4 and s4 fenders are the same part. As for the bumper, it's either not worth repairing anyway because it had been poorly repainted before or it needs to be done right anyway

They crease makes it difficult without filler. If you’re not comfortable with filler, then go new fender and they may have to paint bumper also to blend it

Calling @Smac770 into the thread)yes b8 a4 and s4 fenders are the same. My left fender is an s4, my right is the oem a4.

The difference in the bumpers is cosmetic; s4 and s-line have a body line that comes off hood down bumper between grille and headlights. A4 standard bumpers dont have this bodyline. fit wise they are identical.

I figured a used fender for 150 bucks from '10 S4 from one of the local junkyards is going to be cheaper even than moderately successful PDR, not to mention that PDR won't be 100%. Def will be cheaper than repairing the old fender with a crease. Hopefully, the new fender won't differ in color too much, it might just look too nice compared to the rest of this car. Good thing the S4 is an A4 3.0T, and I'm saying this not in a demeaning way, because of this many parts are identical and don't cost like RS parts.
P.S. I might be overly optimistic here. after I added that fender to their cart and paid for it it didn't disappear from their site[o_o]

As long as you don’t hold out to much hope for a perfect match. I have been told there could be hundreds of variants of the same color. He told me different factories, and where they were sprayed could have two of the same color car look different. I initially was going to get a used door, but fading and exposure to outside, different climates can change a color. It’s a trade off no matter how you look at it.
