Hi guys - I am considering selling my 2015 Audi S4 6SPD with 130k miles. It goes up about 2,000 miles per month. I will be putting in an order for the new RS3 and I am considering getting a car for the next 12-18 months until it arrives. The issue is, there are 15 6spd B8's currently for sale and no 15's have that many miles. Looking to get some input on a starting price. The car is stage 2 with all maintenance up to date. I recently did the PCV.

Thanks!

If it helps I paid $24k for bone stock 2015 w/ 100k miles. Had it shipped sight unseen from Baltimore to Austin. I went with S4 (had SVT Cobra before) specifically because it offered 6MT. So be patient and list on Autotrader. There are usually only like 5-10 for sale in the entire country at any given time.

As many have said before...I believe the forum is the best place to sell a modded car. If you list it on auto trader or the like you prob. wont get much traction compared to the rest. Now when you say stage ll, does it have supporting mods as well? Intake, exhaust, HX upgrade etc? You prob. wont see much return on investment in terms or what somebody will pay. However I would think you would want to list it slight higher than a stock one with comparable mileage. Sorry I could help with starting price...but low 20's sound about right. Not sure what the other specs are on it. B&O, sport diff etc.

Thanks. I was thinking low 20's would be reasonable as well. The car has upgraded pads and rotors, rear sway bar, AWE Touring exhaust, S/C pulley, and a ECS intake. And it is a P+ with tech pack and B&O. No sport diff.

Original clutch? That may be something a potential buyer uses to bring the price down.

How do the clutches in these hold up to more power?

I just replaced my original at 110,000 miles. Stage 1 since around 20,000, stage 2 since 50,000. That being said I don’t track or drive hardly that much

I completely disagree with the forum being the best place to sell a modded car. Everything I’ve seen on here for sale ends up in over valuation from the seller and flaming from the forums. Everyone here knows the value of the mods but will relentlessly beat up the seller because they “don’t add value.”

I tend to prefer a local sell and then you can have a much better conversation on price. Local can be considered just not on the forum.

But then again, aside from the guy above who paid $24k I tend to think most people fudge the numbers when the post what they bought for. I mean seriously, how would a 2016 S4 with 35k miles sell for $20k and only one forum member saw it and bought it?? That’s an example but it rings true from what I’ve see.

Off my soapbox, I wouldn’t start too much lower than the others you’ve seen for a couple of reasons:

1. Location - you might be closer to your potential buyer and that could matter. Some people, like me, aren’t scared by mileage and will lean more heavily to location and other things including mods.

2. Wiggle room - especially if you kept stock parts. Accept a lower price but without mods that can be removed easily.

3. Mileage on these cars shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Not sure why so many Audi fans fear not having a warranty. The engine is bullet proof

I rambled. This topic obviously struck a cord with me lol

As “the guy who paid $24k” (I double checked it was $23k and $25k after tax), I generally agree with what your saying. I laugh every time I see someone bragging how little they paid but my opinion is there are two totally different markets for these cars—DSG and 6MT. Not arguing one over the other (I’ve had both), but IMO if Audi continues to phase out manuals the B8.5 6MTs have a shot at becoming much more depreciation stable much like other rare drivers car. I laugh because while DSG 2nd and 3rd owners are bragging how little they paid driving re-sale values down, guys like me are paying full sticker 2 days after the ad posts and having it shipped across country because there are only 10 for sale in the country and 0 with color/options you want.

I paid $23K at a dealer for my 2013 1-owner DSG, bone stock, all maintenance at Audi, with 28K on the odometer. Unless someone is truly willing to pay $$$$ for a 6-speed, I'd be expecting a selling price of around $15-$18K if you can find that one buyer who doesn't care about mileage. You are approaching "clapped-out" in most people's minds.

My point exactly. I paid the same price as you but 6MT w/ 98k miles lol. $23k for 2015, bone stock, 6MT, loaded including sport diff, Sepang blue. My only point to OP was be patient and 6MT will bring more $$$ and highly motivated buyers. I would also part out as much as possible if you turn your own wrenches. The mods don’t bring as much as they will parted out and ironically many people think tuned cars are treated worse when in many cases they are treated better especially maintenance wise. OP if I were shopping your car I would pay about $20-$21k. Take that for what’s it’s worth..

That's a pretty good premium for a 6-speed, a loaded DSG car with 50K less miles would be about $22K around here.

I will say I have noticed much lower asking prices here than other platforms (Autotrader, eBay motors, etc.). I guess that’s my point, especially for 6MT sellers, understand how rarely these things come up for sale relative to DSG and price accordingly on those platforms. The average person is not checking AZ classifieds they are checking the mainstream used car platforms.

When I was shopping for a used M4 the 6MT cars were always listed higher than equivalent age, mileage, trim DCT cars. I'd image the premium nature of the 6MT would have to do with the relative numbers available. It seemed like it was about 10:1 for M4 convertibles.

Like others, I would start around $22K to see if there are any bites, but I wouldn't be surprised if you can only get $18-19K.

I got a KBB valuation last summer that seemed a bit low. Since then, KBB has sent emails stating that my car's value has increased about 5% in November, 2% in December and 4% in January. I'm not sure what's going on.

I paid 21,500 for my 14 6MT with 88k on it in late 2019. Very well maintained and excellent shape.

I always look on cars.com and CarGurus and the prices on them don't seem to be getting any lower. If you aren't in a rush, I'd start in the 23-24 range and go down if it doesn't move.

A lot of people looking for the last of the manuals will search nationwide for what they want. That's what I did, flew to get it and drove it home and haven't regretted it since.
