How to put a B8.5 on jack stands?

I have a 2015 S4 that Id like to put on jack stands in my garage for a few weeks while i do some maintenance work. I have several jacks, 4 jack stands and a pair of ramps, but its not clear to me how to get the car onto 4 jack stands given what appears to be a limited number of jacking points.

Yeah, there are jack points on the front and rear of the pinch weld on both sides. I’ve had mine on 4 stands several times.

I think what OP is asking is how you you jack up from say the driver side front pinch weld and then get a jack stand under that same pinch weld. To the OP...I have jacked under the steering knuckles with a floor jack and then put a jack stand under the pinch weld. Also I have backed up onto ramps on the rear wheels, then used jack stands on the fronts. Ramps are obviously only good if you don't need to remove the wheels.

I had to buy a U-jack and some skinny Jack stands to get it jacked without too much trouble. Had to buy some rubber pinch weld pads too. If you have a regular jack you have to put a pinch weld puck all the way at the end of the jack point and as far to the jacking pad as you can to maneuver a stand under it, if you're using the actual pinch weld jacking point

You’ve gotta lift from just off the lifting point on pinch weld and then place the jack stand support under the actual lifting point. It’s a process and takes some trial and error. Sometimes I’ll lift the rear high enough to get a stand under the front. Experiment a little and you’ll find the sweet spot. Lifting pads will protect your pinch weld seem and underbody coating.

I've taken the side carry handle off of my floor jack, so I can get a jack stand right up next to it on the pinch welds. Lower control arms will connect directly to the frame or a solid crossmember that bears the full weight. That frame spot or crossmember spot is where I place the floor jack.

I lift temporarily until I get high enough to get the tire off the shop floor and place a jack stand under the associated pinch weld. Then, lower the jack and move to the next as needed. This way, I'm never under the car unless supported by jack stand(s) holding the car up at the pinch weld(s).

This except I start in the front and it lifts the rear enough to slide jack stand under. Pinch weld goes beyond jack point so you can jack right next to it and place jack stand where the arrow/jack point is.

But if that’s not in the budget...

I always had 2 race jacks on hand, and I removed a side handle from each one (opposite sides) I would place the jack at the extreme end of a pinch weld to allow my jack stand to slide in right next to the jack and still
be safely on the pinch weld when the jack was removed. I would do front first then rear, but I always had a buddy on staff to help me when I was doing a full elevation... safety first!!!!

I just noticed the jacks are in the photo [emoji16]and the handles are removed from the same
side on these, I had a third that was opposite but it died recently and I tossed it and replaced it with a sweet giant Schwaben floor jack! [emoji57]

Reviving a dead thread, but this lifting this car safely is a big PITA to me. What I did while doing brakes tonight allowed me to lift from the front pinch welds and still have room to put a jack stand beside the jack. I went old school and dug out a heavy duty scissor jack, put my pinch weld metal pad on it, then lifted at the far rear edge of the exposed pinch weld. Then I could fit a 3 ton jack stand beside it. Wouldn't pick my bigger jack stands still.

Scissor jack is probably 40 years old, so I probably need to get a new one. Don't want to get the little one out of the trunk every time.

if you have a garage, quickjack makes a lot of sense. I'm personally jacking the front of the car first by jacking under the front subframe and then putting the jackstands under the front pinch welds, kind of in the same way as many Mercedes and BMW cars want you to do it, but these of course have an official front central jackpoint. This is not an official Audi way, but I'm all about unofficial and don't have any front underbody shields, so that's how I do it. And then I'm jacking the rear of the car under the rear diff - this is an official Audi way if you don't have a sport diff. If you do you're SOL)

Yes, portable 2 post lift is the ultimate way to go if your floor is thick enough, that's true. or you can cut a hole in your underbody shield) jk.

The pinch weld also runs the entire length of the car, just use something soft to not crack the plastic and you can lift it anywhere you want on that seam.

I just leave my quick jacks under the car, so they don't take up any valuable. I also purchased mine as an open box so I saved a lot of money, but it did come with some problems and Quick Jack fixed them.

Thanks those are indeed the OEMs, very similar to the RS4 wheel.. VMR 708 replicas, etc. a couple similar ones on b8 avants s-line as well. Either way, looks good, esp with the red center against your silver [up]
