transmission question

hi there.I have an A4 b6 2.4 from 2002.It had a CVT transmission.Long story short.The trans is broken,to expensive to repair,even if I do it myself.I want to put a manual in it. My questions are : 1. does the trans has to be exactly from a 2.4 b6 ? 2.Does a trans from an A6 c5 2.4 fit (since they have the same engine)? 3.Does a trans from 2.5 TDI fit? (asking,because both engines are V6 and the size is almost the same.I`m guessing that diesel or petrol makes no difference for the trans,but I am not sure).I know that I still need other stuff not just the trans itself,but I was just wondering if I can look after multiple vehicles not just for a 2.4 one.

I have the same problem by the way. It will be interesting to follow this thread. Only I have a problem with the Infiniti QX60 (https://carbuzz.com/cars/infiniti/qx60) . The gearbox broke down and I once couldn't get it to change gear from reverse to front. And when I had an Audi A3 , I encountered the same problem as you , but I took a trans with a TDI donor just the same . But I'm not so sure it would help you either, we have different models of cars we're talking about.
