What kind of oil are you guys running? Time for an oil change and just ordered a oil extractor.
After going through previous threads, I see alot of people using liqui Moly 5w-40 but that's not full synthetic right? Should I be running full synthetic or will liqui Moly be fine? I have about 40k miles on the car.
Any help would be appreciated!

Good point but might be splitting hairs:

How can I tell what kind of synthetic oil it is?
Oliver Kuhn: That is not so easy, because there are no uniform terms here. In the USA, for example, both PAO oils and HC oils can be described as fully synthetic, but in Germany only PAO oils may be called synthetic. That is why we give our HC oils the label “Synthesis Technology”. Other oil manufacturers use terms such as “100% synthetic” or “synthetic mix”, where it is not clear what exactly is meant.
So in the US I believe all their oils are labeled "Fully Synthetic" including LEICHTLAUF HIGH TECH SAE 5W-40. However on their European site it is labeled “Synthesis Technology”.

I believe only their SYNTHOIL HIGH TECH 5W-40 aka SYNTHOIL PREMIUM SAE 5W-40 in the US is "Fully Synthetic" PAO by German standards, but I do not know for sure as they could use all HC oil for the US even if the particular oil name stays the same.
Again, might be splitting hairs and not worth going down the rabbit hole.

You can use any VW 502 00 spec oil, they should all be full synthetic.
As long as it's listed here you can use it: https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/audiusa/Documents/Audi-2017-Technical-Service-Bulletin-1.22.2018.pdf

Many threads here discuss this. The consensus seems to be that meeting VW 502 specification and changing every 5K miles is more important than brand. For example, Liqui Moly Molygen New Generation 5W30 is fully synthetic but does not carry approval for VW502, while Liqui Moly Special Tec LL 5W30 is also fully synthetic and is approved for VW502.

Technically, most US distributed Liqui-moly is a groupIII HC oil, but still considered fully synthetic by US standards. If you want a groupIV PAO full synthetic, go down to the local wal-mart and pickup some Castrol Edge 0W-40. Just make sure it says European Formula on the front, and Made In Belgium on the back. Pretty sure the Mobil-1 0W-40 is also a groupIV PAO which you can get there as well.
Though if you still want Liqui-moly, they say HC vs PAO doesn't matter, even though European oil must be PAO to be considered fully synthetic, so take it as you will https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/us/company/news/detail/news/motor-oil-mineral-synthetic-or-fully-synthetic-6193.html

Good point as usual. The Blau website makes the same comment about PAO to support their marketing of Ravenol.

Amsoil says the same: "Try not to get caught up in the “my-base-oil-versus-your-base-oil” cage match. The base oils that go into the oil aren’t as important to your engine as the performance that comes out of the oil. Look for motor oils that offer performance claims backed by industry-standard testing or real-world results. That’s what’s really important".
