I still have to consciously think about how I use the gear lever when in manual mode. Has anyone come across a solution where pulling the gear lever will shift up (instead of down) and pushing the lever will shift down (instead of up). Many thanks.

There might be an fix....
Personally i'm still trying to figuer out if our gearshift unit is hardwired for every mode (P R N D S and M+ M-). From checking the wire diagram it looks to be the case but not 100% sure and even less sure what pin nrs represent witch mode. Over several attempts i tried to ask persons, so far no luck. One could try meassure the pins while selecting modes and see witch light up +12v...but no good electricien so bit affraid to test it out myself on running car :p.
Anyway, in short, if the gearshift unit in fact sends +12v signals to the gearbox, it is a simple way of finding the correct + and - wires and reverse them (uhu your console lights wont match but at least you get your wanted result).
Hope that helps you....in case you try it out (i'm not responsible for any malfunctions :p) please share your results!
*i plan is linking my drive select button on steeringwheel to the D S M modes.

Thank you for your reply. Also interested in linking the * button on the steering wheel to the driving modes.

Don't think, not possible and only possible witch linbus/canbus module and even then...that is why hardwiring is often better/easier.
Anyone has a spear gearshifter unit laying around and up to put power on it and check it it sends +12v signals out
the 10 pin connector? please

Looks like Cobb have done this mod to the Porsche PDK:

I've also been looking at ebay for a gear lever, to test some stuff out, like this one:

To have a steering wheel button change ADS modes, you need to swap out the button pod for a drive select button from a performance model like I did.
You cannot make the * button change ADS modes.
Also, you need to code your instrument cluster so that when you change ADS modes, it will show in the DIS. Otherwise you have to have you MMI on that screen to see the mode.

Not entirely correct, as you could simply install a linbus chip between the button pods and only alter the * command into drive select command...that is again also only in case you have a facelift model (but would be your cheapest fix as the button panel alone is pretty pricey).

How much is a linbus chip and where does one purchase it? And where do you alter the command for the * button? I'm just curious as I've not seen this.
Changing the button out is plug and play, very easy, and reversible. And can be done for under $200.

I dont know but maybe the pdk is full electric (simular as the s8 gearshift unit) witch might likely allows you to reprogram.
