Just picked up a 2014 S4, and it appears as though the previous owner has done some exhaust work on it. The cats/downpipe are stock, but past that he did a custom resonator delete, and some aftermarket mufflers. There is a minor leak at the resonator portion that was mostly welded over, but is still very lightly there. The exhaust vibrates at idle, and it can be felt throughout the cabin. While driving, the exhaust vibrates a bit harder, sometimes making random parts of the car creak and make weird noises. What should I look at under the exhaust, could it be a bad hanger or is there another issue

Providing the system is not touching anything, I’d suspect the flex joint in downpipes needing replacement. Easy to test if you can get access under the car.

How would I test that if that were to be the case?

I would first grab the tail pipe and give it a good shake/wiggle to see if it touches and knocks on anything. Especially the cross bar towards the rear of the car.
If the PO left the front stock, my bet would be on the back section.
