I recently purchased an s4. The test drive went smooth and the engine sounds super quiet. I noticed a noise tonight however when you hover at 1100 RPM. The engine seems to shake, and a rattling noise can be heard.
I posted the link below to a video i took. It doesnt seem to make the noise in gear only in park any ideas what it could be?

I know this is a dumb question, but is a tune required for aftermarket downpipes on the s4 like it is on the GTI?

Well that is dissapointing, but Im sure i have some time to deal with it. At least its not an issue with the engine.

If i can get the car onto a lift, is there a way to confirm that the flex pipes are the issue?

Definitely sounds like an exhaust issue.

Where'd you buy the car? Should at least come with 3k/3 month warranty. Unless private sale.

Internally lubricated parts only. I noticed that it does not make the noise in gear. Ill worry about it if it becomes more sever . I have to very carefully rev the engine to recreate it in park. When i have the car in for its DSG service and a carbon cleaning in March ill mention it.

like others said, downpipes, there's even a TSB for this. I got mine replaced under warranty at around 40k miles. Audi released an updated version for the pipes but you're most likely going to look at the aftermarket.

+1, it's your flexpipe in the downpipe section.

Thanks for all the input everyone! Its a bummer i have to replace something on the car already, but when i get down i just use launch control and i start giggling like a kid. Ill probably do the IE or AWE downpipes.

Check engine mounts too. More engine movement will lead to faster flex pipe failure.

Definitely flex pipes. I installed an AWE exhaust, including downpipes, to remedy mine.
