I've been talking direct with P3 over the last couple weeks about getting a run of gauges made for the B9 SQ5.
They already have an S4/S5 version on the market. They would be looking for minimum of 5 committed buyers.

This is tempting but what’s the pricing they are thinking?
subaruski
01-07-2021, 03:46 PM
The B8 SQ5 and B9 S4/S5 are $389 for gauge standalone and $649/$689 preinstalled in vent.
I would think B9 SQ5 pricing would be similar.
Extra vent part #80B820901A6PS can be purchased for around $100 if you want to install into vent and then fit.
This is tempting but what’s the pricing they are thinking?

Interesting. I don’t think I could justify the price for the preinstalled though.

I’m in 100 % , had it in my B8.5. They told me to buy the universal kit for the B9. Happy to know this is happening

Here is a quick update back from Jake at P3. If we can get a few more people on board we can hit a goal of 10 and all get 25% off.
I'm just waiting on the vent to arrive so I can plan out the display. Our local friend with the new q5 should also be swinging back through today or tomorrow so I can double-check the software.
If you have at least 5 people committed and willing to pay up front I would offer a discount on these without the vent. It will take 3-4 weeks to get the materials in for the displays after we verify the software is good to go.
Retail pricing would be the same. We're looking at $389 for the gauge setup itself and the vent option would retail for $200 (Audi is very proud of their vents, haha) However, the display install in your own vent doesn't look like it will be bad at all (I'll be able to confirm that once our vent gets in early this week)
If these people are willing to pre-order and wait I would offer a discount to you all. This is where it gets a little tricky though as I'd prefer to do one transaction with one person as a "dealer". This makes it much easier to have everyone committed and ready to go. Otherwise we run into an issue where only some of the people commit and then we have some people's money but not others. Being so small we simply don't have the time to chase people around to get payment, so this would be up to you. We could then do a single payment for the initial buy.
So for this deal I would be willing to give 15% off to the people willing to pre-order knowing that they will have to wait 3-4 weeks once they make payment.
If you get 10 or more people willing to commit then I would give 25% off.
Let me know your thoughts and if you'd be willing to be the coordinator on this. I appreciate your time on this, hopefully we can get this launched!

So we'd be looking at $500 installed in the vent ready to go preordered?
I'm in for that.

So we'd be looking at $500 installed in the vent ready to go preordered?
I asked Jake again to clarify pricing and also if there were different vent part numbers for trims with ambient lighting.
His response eludes to wanting to just offer the gauge stand alone for the initial run.
So we would be $331.50 for gauge alone with 5-9 buyers and $291.75 for 10+ buyers.
That's the vent we received, I just pulled a VIN from a used car ad online to order that one. I am not sure if there are different trims available or not.
Yes, the price would be $389+$200 for the vent but I would rather not offer the vent option on this pre-order deal just to avoid any extra variables at this point. I'd prefer to keep it simple as possible.
For the time being I'd like to verify the software and then get our initial round of display parts in so we can get these going for you. I'll have Matt start drawing up the display, let me know if you have any other questions.

Do you know if they are doing the analog boost version as well, or just the OBD2 version? I'd be looking for the analog boost version so I can see actual boost (using the JB4).
subaruski

Analog boost sensor is an add on. The p3 setup allows for 2 additional analog inputs if needed.
https://www.p3cars.com/accessories/p3-analog-boost-sensor/
I was eyeing the ethanol sensor too.

A little different. On my BMW, I have the straight analog version (here is the B8 link):
https://www.p3cars.com/audi/p3-analog-gauge-audi-q5-2008-2017/
It doesn't connect to the OBD2 port, so you lose those diagnostics, and has a dedicated boost sensor on the unit. You just need to connect the 1/8" line to it. Typically is cheaper as well ($130 less).
Just curious...

I'll shoot a question to Jake at P3 and see whats up.
EDIT: Analog version, gauge only, available at $234

Making a little progress here. Attached is a picture of P3's test fit gauge. Jake at p3 wasn't happy with the fitment along the left side so he is ordering a new set of glass. Says that puts us back about 2-3 weeks unfortunately.
On a positive note, that will give more time to get the last additional people to jump on the group buy so we can get the lowest price possible.

How's the install on this? Have a doc/instructions on such?

Install is pretty straight forward. Hardest part is popping the trim pieces off.
Here are install vids on B9 s4/s5

P3 will be providing full install video for the B9 SQ5 shortly. They are finishing up install on a demo car currently.

A little install tip for those who were in on the group buy. When you get the vent itself out, just remove the top two slats, not all 5 of them. Once you remove the top two, the P3 gauge snaps right in. If you remove all 5, it’s a little tricky getting the bottom 3 back in. Plus you don’t have to worry about breaking the bottom 3 slats.
Unfortunately I learned the hard way and broke the middle slat. Luckily FF10 was kind enough to send me his old vent. This time I just removed the top 2 slats and popped in the gauge.

And I meant F10TT as far as the other member. He voluntarily offered me his old vent. I tried to give him some money but he refused. All you hear about nowadays is the negative. He seems like a really good guy and definitely went the extra mile to help me.

I gotta say, I love the idea of the p3 vent guage, but the execution just isn't that awesome.
if they had a bigger screen, could project a digital boost gauge - that would be pretty sweet.
Personally I just plug in a simple bluetooth OBD2 box into my port and run Torque pro on my phone,. All kinds of information, digital guages, 1/4mile and 0-60 times. Pretty much everything you need.
For deeper ECU stuff I just use OBDeleven.

broke: steering column gauge pods
woke: vent gauge pods and P3 gauges
bespoke: 3d print your own housings to mount arduinos and oled screens and program them to do whatever you want like I do for my B6’s
