Hey everyone. I want to preface this thread with I've read through as much material and watched as many YouTube videos concerning this topic as I can possibly find.
I'll start off describing my situation.
When the vehicle is started the MMI functions as intended. It flips up and boots as it should. After a period of time (extremely inconsistent, anywhere from 3 - 30 minutes) I experience the following:
1.) The radio cuts out (the screen will allow me to navigate through the system but I cannot do anything due to the system "initializing")
2.) The MMI screen will go black (slight lighting around the edges)
3.) The MMI screen then recedes.

Sometimes I can 3 finger reset it. Sometimes I cannot.
Sometimes when I reset it the system will reboot and work for awhile until it repeats steps 1,2, and 3. And sometimes it doesn't reboot at all (screen stays receded).
I would imagine my issue is either connection related, the HDD is failing, or outdated software. Has anyone else ever experienced this before? If so, what was/wasn't your resolution.

Your problem should be in tuner module or amplifier module.
Check left side of trunk for water ingress.

I have a similar issue.

It all started when I had the amplifier repaired and reinstalled it.

Have you resolved your issue?
What are you seeing that is different than my scenario?

I checked the location for any signs of water. I didn't see anything. Although that really doesn't mean much. If either of those modules are faulty will they show up in VCDS?

Nope,

Mine will work fine for a few weeks, then decide to shut off randomly. Sometimes a soft reboot makes it work, other times I have to do it multiple times before it stays turned on.

I do not have a VCDS.

My guess is that when I took the amplifier out for repairs that some dirt or something got onto the fiber optic connection and is distorting the signal. But that is just a guess.
