What happened...you'd have better luck finding the Audi Silver Arrows lost after WWII, than finding a built Avant. Du phuck happened? Did some eccentric self made millionaire Generation X'er buy every built B5 and have them shipped to their underground bat cave lair? Are they going to find a vault in 65 years after this guy has passed and it's filled with 30 rows of B5's like a sultan? Am I living in a sick and twisted version of the Truman Show? Did Thanos hate built B5's? Is this a version of Black Mirror? Did the DOT do a nation wide recall I wasn't aware of and all were crushed? Is the Taliban running around the Tora Bora region in Quattros with 50 cals bolted to the roof? If it takes 20,000 licks to get into a tootsie pop, would there be a built Avant inside?

Errtttttttt (skidmarks), now, not that I'm finding anything to even choose from to begin with, I'm hopefully looking for all the fixens: exterior S4 treatment, manual, plenty of goodies, AC, built 1.8t, clean in & out, non rust state...let me know.

B5 A4 crowd turned into Honda kids. Most of the b5
scene has turned. Now b6/b7.

People stopped fucking with a lot of b5 a4’s. The s4
the broke kids now love and the older enthusiasts
myself included still love them.

Really couldn’t tell you anything otherwise.

Occasionally you’ll see some mint examples come up on QW.

I know I have been looking as well for quite a while. I ended up not completely giving up but might have to just settle on a clean B6 instead, being that they seem much easier to find.

I’m still looking for one myself. I miss mine like crazy.. Doesn’t even have to be a 1.8T or a manual. I recently joined the B5 A4 group on Facebook and left within minutes. I couldn’t stand the posts.

I may have some good news for you.

I owned and restored one of the most well known B5's, the "Genesis Autosport Avant". I thought about buying it back as I should be able to get ahold of the buyer...yet I don't care too much for the supercharged V6, and the "rental car tan" interior drives me up a wall. You can Google it as it's well documented. PM if you seriously want me to try to find it.

On another note I believe there's no help for humanity for individuals under 30 years old. It's down syndrome from birth, coupled with a lack of ambition, drive, word compression, patience & complete lack of attention span.

1) Car one, OfferUp, possible rare interior spec:

Hey, I'm 2,200 miles away, I'd have a carrier pick up your vehicle. I need to confirm the interior color because it's hard to tell in person if it's black (Onyx) or a rare color called Anthracite, that looks black but is acutely dark navy. I need some photos of the interior...like the dash, door cards,

- Sellers response: "Are you going to come look at it or not?"

- I'm 2,300 miles away, I need photos.

Sellers response: What do you want from me do you want the car or not?

- Yeah...I need acutely photos of the interior, you resent a picture from the ad of the close up of a seat, I need to know the interior color...I'm buying the car for the interior specs. Can I get the VIN #, photos and a shot of the title?

- Sellers response: I can't be holding the car for you do you want it or not?

In short, the dude just refuses to send interior shots, the vin or title. Even when I tell him I have a carrier on stand by, 3 months later...still for sale with price drop. ???????

2) Car 2: The kid will give me zero specs on the modified motor, turbo size, or photos of the engine bay but one from 20' away in the dark. Will not provide the Vin #, nor a shot of the title, nor a single photo I ask for, nor contact info from the guy who built it...and doesn't know or refuses to tell me the status of the title because as he's listed the ad to the effect "Bill of sale only". You're asking $9000...for a vehicle....with no specs, no information, and doesn't include a title? But...URGENTLY MUST SELL!!!! Every 2 weeks I ask if he's straighten out the title, has a title, what's going on with it and for pics...his response is a single word

- "no"

3 months later still fs, with multiple price drops, ???

3) Car 3: OfferUp ~Built looking A4 sedan, no specs, no engine shots.

- Can you provide me with detailed engine bay shots?

Seller: It runs well

- Can you provide me with detailed engine bay shots?

Seller: The engine has xxx, xxxx miles, runs good no issues.

- Can you provide me with detailed engine bay shots?

- Seller (ghosts me).

I'm going to try to make this very very clear...I'm looking to buy all of them, have 2 carrier dropped at my house, and the 3rd fly into their state, Uber to their house, and marathon in back home state which I've explained to the seller.

But nope...I...I just don't get it. I put 64x more effort into selling a Dewalt power tool, piece of artwork described it's history, and even a random individual pair of bnib shoes online...than these people do selling an entire vehicle. I couldn't imagine listing a $2,000 gaming computer....and dancing around & avoiding every request of a buyer, not even acknowledging the most basics like it's graphic card, power supply, or brand. All three vehicles are still fs till this day.

But I feel better telling everyone! 😄

I’m with you. These kids/young adults’ IQ levels have dipped significantly, no thanks to social media and tech trends. I often ask myself why I put in the effort but then when my stuff sells and I have a five star rating I quickly remember its worth the effort.

I listed my B5 A4 just yesterday and added it on OfferUp hoping for a local buyer. Here’s one scenario:

Potential buyer: Hi, is this still available? Notice the correct grammar due to default push buttons.

Me: Hi, yes it is.

PB: How much are u asking for

Me: Did you read the ad?

Ghosted

Scenario number two: seller has a Silverado bed shell for sale. Ad states "topper for sale, it’s just sitting my garage - $400"

Me: Hi, can I get the details on the topper please?

Seller: what do u want it’s a truck top

Me: Wow really? Well let’s see, brand, model and application would be a good start.

Seller: it’s for a Silverado just look at the pic

Me: yea never mind. I’ll just look at a new one for the close to the same price. At least then I’ll know if it fits my truck or not.

Seller - reports and blocks me.

And....you're not even probably exaggerating the slightest, which is scary. The irony of the only people that are worth a dam, are the ones worth any kind of income, being ~established, disposable income, good attributed and skilled. You're not going to have issues with the owner of a 500whp B5 S4, who personally sunk ~$20k into it over 5 years, a RS3 seller, or restored an Audi 5000 to the tune of $13k, on top of the vehicle price. Kinda odd, you'd think some of these types would be pro active and do everything in their power to obtain a sale.

Like your ad, being that detailed, the cost to build it, and being proactive, not alone the 1+ hour it took just to write it..it would be a sure good bet to deal with you.

There's zero specs or description of this vehicle, no engine photos, not a mention of even what motor in the ad or if it even had one:

My favorite is when I had my TT for sale for $4500 and all the potential buyer sends in his message is “1500”

I'm in a B5 S4 group still on FB and I'd say that 90%+ of them don't have front bumpers

I can see QW having listings like what you're looking for sometimes but their fs section seems really quiet lately

Are people not listing on forums as much anymore?

Yea QW and Audiworld is dead. Motor geek too.

If the b5 s4 crowd, urs4, and c5 community are as
cheap as I’ve come to find out I really don’t wanna
even know what the b5 A4 community has going on.

Most likely a dead platform.

Also the majority of replies you get on offerup
are from the most brain damaged individuals.
Some Haitian lady told me I could pay her $1,000
to haul away my 2016 s4 partout. I could go on forever
about the countless others who’ve actually gotten
angry for me asking for pics or more info about
their items/vehicle.

Majority of offerup ads in south Florida literally
just say “good car” and I’m not even bullshiting
you. It’s amazing the worlds survived this far.

Also it’s funny for partouts I’ll list a ridiculous number
because people down here can’t read English and they’ll
ask me repeatedly how much for the car. So the when
I list $999,999 asking price I sure as shit have idiots asking
me why do I think my parts or car is worth that much and I’ll
respond if you can’t comprehend why that price is there I’m
not going to explain it.

This is so true!! The kids in the b6/7 FB chat ask the same exact questions every week. Wish they would go back to the Honda scene.
