I just bought a 2010 S4 Prestige and couldn't be more excited. I tried to do a search for my problems but couldn't find anything, although that could be user error. I'm not really into tech...meaning I'm older. Anyway, regarding the convenience key I can start the car with the key in my pocket but it won't allow me lock/unlock the door unless I use the fob. I tried all doors and it's the same, so don't think it's a sensor as others have suggested in previous posts. The issue with Sirius, is that I go to Band and Sirius and it doesn't allow me to go past the screen that says to call Sirius and gives the EIN #.

Thanks in advance for the help, and I can't wait to interact with this great group of people and mod this car in the future.

Not sure about the key issue. You're going to have to have the car scanned for codes and go from there.

You won't be able to go beyond that screen in Sirius unless you get a trial subscription or regular subscription...

Congrats on the purchase! Your convenience key issue sounds like a bad door touch sensor. This is somewhat common and when one goes bad the system stops working. You’ll need vagcom or equivalent to identify which one is bad.

And as far as your Sirius all you need to do is call and activate the service providing them with the radio ID. Or go online and do a free 3 month trial. Takes about 5 min.

Also if yours is automatic you should look into the common mechatronic issue. Very costly if it hasn’t already been addressed.

Thanks. I already have a subscription, and I've chatted with Sirius and they've tried to push the signal several times but I can't get past that screen.

Thanks! I'll have to look into the door sensor, and I'll definitely research the mechatronic issue.

I agree with the potential for a faulty door sensor -- scanning the car with VCDS should help to determine if a door sensor is the issue. If you don't have the VCDS cable (or equivalent scanning tool), you might find a VW or Audi enthusiast in a local forum near your location who can assist. Alternatively a VW/Audi independent repair shop can likely scan your car for faults, and can probably replace the faulty sensor(s) so your keyless entry will be working.

Regarding the Sirius issue, there's some useful info at this link: https://www.siriusxm.com/activationhelp. You mentioned that Sirius support has tried to push the activation signal several times to no avail. As mentioned at the link, when the service activation signal is sent, your car needs to be outside, not in your garage where the signal will be blocked. According to the the instruction at the link, you should first tune your reciever to Sirius channel 184 in preparation to receive the activation signal. Alternatively, you apparently can go online at the link (www.siriusxm.com/refresh to request the signal (when your car is not inside of course). Maybe this is all you'll need to get it going. There's also an option at that link above to call in to the provided number, speak your radio's code number, and get the activation code without having to speak with a live person. That should be easy to do from an outdoor location with no obstructions above the car (trees, etc). Otherwise, if that effort is not successful, a diagnostic scan may be able to tell if there are any fault codes related to your satellite receiver unit (located in the trunk side cubby on the driver's side I believe).

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! And congratulations on your new-to-you S4! Enjoy it!

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you were fortunate to get the service records for your car, or know who the previous owner is and can learn the service history, you may be able to find out when the DSG was last serviced. The DSG service which consists of changing its oil and filter should be done at 35/75/115K miles.
Here's a link to the maintenance service guide if you don't have the owner's manual(s): https://www.audiusa.com/content/dam/audiusa/Documents/maintenance-schedules/Audi-Maintenance-Schedule-Model-Year-2010.pdf

Thanks so much for your help and insight. It definitely gives me a path to resolution. Thanks, and I'll let you know how it goes.

VCDS could possibly help track down any issues with your SiriusXM module if there are any. There could be coding issues present as well. Also, try forcing a reboot of the MMI. Hold down the menu button, the center button on the MMI, and the top right soft key next to the wheel.

I've also seen those SiriusXM modules do strange things during MMI (and RNS in VWs) software updates. A second application of the software update usually rectifies the issue.

Ok, thank you. It's weird because I go to SiriusXM, it brings up the screen to call to activate, and you can't go beyond that screen. All the buttons for tuning, etc., are grayed out and you can only go to "Band". I'll look into the update but that means I have to go to the dealer, and I hate getting ripped off by the dealers.

Check your MMI software. I know a few here have lost Sirius from the band select screen with older MMI software.
