View Full Version : Headlamp Washer Retrofit

One of my dummy headlamp washer covers came off on my S6 (piece of wood hit it from the freeway [:(]), and as I was thinking about replacing them, I wondered whether anyone here has done a retrofit for the USA since Canada and Europe have these washers. My car has night vision, and I believe that means that it has much of what's needed to put these in from the fluid side. I've searched here and have heard it has been done but can't find a link to someone actually doing it with parts, etc. Thoughts?

I'll quote my previous write up:
If you have NightVision you already have the necessary pump and tubing running to the NV module in the middle of the bumper which makes retrofitting significantly easier. The headlight washer nozzle activates at the same time as the NV nozzle does, as they are all running off pressure in the same tubing.
To retrofit, it should merely be a matter of adding in the necessary tubing/clamps/connectors to the existing hose as well as the pressure-activated nozzles. If you don't have NV though, probably a fair bit more involved.
Here's a diagram (#5 is the pump, #3 is the NV module, #7 is the fluid resevoir):

Parts page for headlight washer components:

So essentially, you just order a bunch of T-junctions, elbows, clamps, nozzle brackets etc. Cut whatever length of hose you need.
How much of each you need I probably couldn't say, since my car already had headlight washers, but this should be a good place to start.

Here's a few pages from the manual about the nozzles:

Since you already have NV, as the person above me mentioned, you already have most of the necessary infrastructure to retrofit the washers. Kufatec (https://www.kufatec.com/en/audi/a6/a6-4g/?p=10) has a complete retrofit kit, including the pump, however they may be willing to sell you a partial kit of just what you need if you contact them, and that way you know you're getting what you need and not guessing at all.
May be a bit more pricey than individually sourcing components, but it is an easier option potentially if you're into that sort of thing. Other than that, I'd refer you to the Audi online parts site, where you can find labeled diagrams with all the parts listed for each subsystem in the car, and then it's as easy as making a list (and checking it twice [emoji6]) and getting each component you need.
You shouldn't need any coding as the NV system activated the headlight washers as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Best of luck!
