View Full Version : Help: cruise control not working

I took my RS7 to get the oil separator repaired, and when I got the car back my cruise control didn’t work.
At first, it would work 50% of the time, and then it would always disengage. When this happens, I get the notice as shown in the picture.
But now, it won’t engage at all, and just says: ACC and Audi breaking guard: Currently unavailable.
I turned off the Audi breaking guard in the car systems menu, but that doesn’t help.
Has anyone seen this? Thanks in advance for any insights.

You need VCDS to pull codes. I'd get it randomly driving, especially on really, really long drives. Now I'm battling a parametrization issue in my image processor that I think was the real culprit all along, but I get a different message when it behaves stupid and the message only happens when I turn on the ignition.
Did they remove they bumper to do the work?
The connectors for the bumper sensors and the radar are typical audi electrical connectors and can fail when removed and are not very good at re-connecting. If you can have them check all those connections.
Believe it or not the bumper ultrasonic "parking" sensors are also used for brake guard and if one fails or is disconnected you will get that warning.

This is the answer. I had my oil separator done, the front bumper was removed, and I would get the same error message.
Only solution (that I know of) is to take it to a dealership and have the adaptive cruise control recalibrated. Takes several hours, and will cost about $600-700.

Well that’s no fun. Thanks for the insight.

FWIW I did not need a calibration when I faced similar issue, just a loose connection on those sensors, they re-checked them all and everything was fine.

Since the work can be done in a way that avoids the need for re-calibration, if in fact the problem is not a loose connection shouldn't the shop that caused the problem be responsible to make it good?
