View Full Version : Replacing a used MMI at Dealership issue

Hello everyone,

To make a long story short. My MMI on my 2013 A4 Allroad has been giving me hard time and the dealer said it need to be replaced (+6000$ CAD). This represent 1/3 of what I paid for the car. the Good news was that the dealer was open to installed and reprogram a used unit if I was able to find one.

Original model on the car was 8R1 035 664C

The dealer said you need a C or K at the end of the P/N. So I found on ebay a 8R1 035 664D version and they said it should work(it coming from a 2014 Audi A4). The dealer did installed the unit and remove the CP but said; only the radio was working. (the sat Nav, Bluetooth was not working and said that was because it was not a C or K). They said that I absolutely need to buy the exact model number with the C or the K(newer)

So I finally got my hand on another 8R1 035 664C(different year) that was previously installed on a Q5.

I did installed the unit myself and drove the the dealer to remove the CP an reprogram the unit. Everything was working except the CP and the Setup on the MMI were for the a Q5 not A4 Allroad... Dealer said they couldn't flash the unit to match my car and had to do it manually and then the MMI started to acting weird..
My questions is; does the dealer should be able to format/Flash the MMI and reinstall the entire MMI program to the right car?? because right now all this make no sense to me. nay help will be greatly appreciated
