Assuming the light is on solid, is there a more descriptive error message in the dash under the warning triangle "tab"? If they disconnected/connected the radar sensors in the front bumper with the battery connected, there's a decent chance that the adaptive cruise system will need to go through the recalibration process for that light to go away.

As seems to be a frequent answer around here- if you have a device that is capable, scan the car/pull the codes and you'll have a definitive answer.

Looks like it's time to visit the dealer and have them do an ACC calibration.

Was this at a dealer or an independent shop?

If you have ACC and they took the nose off then they probably turned power on with the connectors disconnected at which point your ACC calibration gets screwed up. From reading here that is a dealer only calibration that will take a few hours. The nose off repairs should have been able to be performed without powering up the car.

The repair shop caused the error more than likely. Depending on what they had to do you might want to try and push the issue that their mistake caused the loss of calibration. ACC calibration could cost as much as $500.

it was at a reputable independent shop. I can't believe they would return the car as is. I picked it up last minute last night. I will be heading out there shortly to say wtf. I don't mind taking it to the dealership but I don't want the hassle with the insurance. We'll see how this all goes down :(

I had to have my front cover replaced a couple of months ago... (someone backed into it). Shop had stated it would have to go to dealer for recalibration... Insurance company screamed, hollered and stomped their feet... may have even held their breath for a bit as well, but in the end they had to cover the cost of a flat bed tow from shop to dealer and back, plus the 1600.00 recalibration cost.

What I find strange is I had pretty much from the radiator support forward replaced on my car, but the parking and ACC sensors were fine. I know they they powered on the car to maneuver it around the shop. There was no dash error light but dozens of faults when I scanned the car with VCDS after getting it back. The shop did not do any calibration nor did they send it to the dealer for re-calibration like I thought they would. It has been years and my ACC works fine and I have no faults at all after initially clearing them when it came back from all the work. So I am not sure how the shop I had managed to remove and re-install the sensors without requiring calibration, but if you are not going to take it right back to the shop I would start with a VCDS scan. Perhaps you just need to clear the faults.

I've had to get an ACC recalibration done at the dealer but that was with changing to a RS6 style front bumper and you could tell visually the position of the ACC sensors was moved and it was not the exact position it was in before the bumper change. On my RS7, for the body changes the front bumper was stripped down and when I saw pictures of the bumper in the booth without the sensors in place I was concerned about doing a ACC recalibration once it was reassembled. Surprisingly, putting the sensors back onto the bumper was fine and no dealer visit. Your milage may vary, dealers tell you even a wheel alignment requires ACC recalibration based on their manufacturer guidances.

Funny, I've got the opposite problem. VCDS scan shows an address 6C Back-Up Camera fault: "9617993 - Proximity Camera B145C 54 [009] - Missing Calibration / Basic Setting Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear" but I have no persistent light on the dash and the system seems to work perfectly. I thought I read elsewhere on AZ that an independent shop might be able to recalibrate if they have some kind of picture grid to calibrate with. Any ideas?

Yeah, the backup camera calibration is different from the ACC calibration.
Still can be elaborate.
I think a few people made their own templates. I'm not sure the exact procedure.
