Audi a4 b7 2006 1.8T 163hp Multitronic automatic transmission more power and torque

I introduce myself, my name is David and I am from Spain, I write with a translator and maybe I say some strange word.

I have a Audi a4 b7 from 2006 1.8T 163hp with Multitronic automatic transmission and I have some doubts.
I would like to change the turbo for a bigger one and do a reprogramming to be able to get about 260hp and 380 of torque
My question is, can the Multitronic automatic transmission handle all that power and torque?
What is the torque limit for these boxes?
What advice do you give me?

You didn't mention if you have a quattro or front-wheel drive CVT. There is a 3-letter code for the transmission. You can find it in the maintenance booklet. For example, HYH (quattro), HHD (CVT).

Audi may use the same quattro or CVT automatic transmission for 3.2L V6, 2.0T and 1.8T inline 4 cylinder engines. Find those 3 letter code is the key to confirm this. The strongest engine is the 3.2L V6 that produces: 255 hp at 6500 rpm and 243 lbs. ft. torque at 3250 rpm. That would be your limit. If your new turbo can really give you those numbers, it is slightly above the V6.

I thought it is illegal to modify engines in EU :)

You didn't mention if you have a quattro or front-wheel drive CVT. There is a 3-letter code for the transmission. You can find it in the maintenance booklet. For example, HYH (quattro), HHD (CVT).

In europe, especially in UK, france they drive these 1.2,1.6,1.8 audi's with multitronic to save fuel

Not to mention it’s a lower power variant of the engines we all have. 160hp vs 200hp.

Back on topic here though. I don’t think the CVT is going to be able to handle much power. It struggles to be reliable with the standard 200hp engine here in the US. I highly doubt low-k04 level power is going to play nicely with the transmission.

It is front-wheel drive, with a variable torque converter.
Of course I was referring to 380nm (Newton Meter) than in lbs. ft. are 280
They say around here that the torque limit is 400 nm (295 lbs. Ft.) For this gearbox, but no one tells me exactly.
The truth is that I do not want to burst the box since they are not very cheap.
It is illegal, to go well you should homologate with a certificate and paying of course.

So which turbo do you advise me to mount?
Of course we will always be subject to the transmission, that is the problem.
Now I have it with 210hp and 213 lbs. ft. (290nm) but of course it seems little to me. ;)

Most of the members in this forum are mostly from North America. We dont know what transmission brand and variant your car came with. Try to get under the car, remove the protective plastic shield, look for transmission code on the transmission bell housing.

They’re well known to only last 60-80k miles at 200hp stock tune so I highly doubt it’s going to last any longer with more power. There could be companies that offer higher power TCU calibrations for them but that’s something I’ve never bothered to research.

Well, I thought that all variable torque transmissions were the same.
I have no way to get underneath, I would have to take it to a workshop and have it looked at, or you could also tell me audi with the chassis number

When you say they last 60 - 80k miles, what do you mean the turbo, or the transmission? When you say TCU calibrations at higher power, you mean to reprogram the control unit?

Yes, I understand, the problem is that I have no way to get under the car, I would have to take it to a workshop, but almost better to call Audi and tell me with the chassis number, the transmission that it carries
