Hi Guys,
Would like to know if you retrofit a side assist system (so not the lane assist) into a car, you also need to have the system calibrated. Seems that this is usually calibrated together with the acc and lane assist but with some special devices.

No calibration, it's a lot of cable running, mirror covers are changed for the SA sensors and interior switch. The bumper cover has to be removed to fit the antenna/sensors then coding.
It's a lot of work. But doable, I had it done on my wife's A8L. She basically didn't want to drive it without SA, I could not believe every A8, especially the LWB didn't have it as standard equipment!
I got the kit from Kufatec.

Thanks. What specific coding has to be done?

It was very simple, if you get the Kufatec kit, they provide a one-time use coding dongle that does it for you and should not require a dealer visit.

You need to source your own mirror caps and do your own coding, or have a dealer do it. They may be able to answer gateway/module questions for you as well.

Its like with hba retrofit. If you dont have any assists, cameras etc. You have i think its called 9bit gateway, with assists its 10bit

I didn't have cameras but had it also retrofitted by the dealer (not original Audi though) and it works fine.
